I have to say though that so far reactions to the car have been negative! Had someone pull out infront of me at the last minute as I was overtaking on the A3, he then put his face right up to his mirror to try and intimidate me, nice chap. Then stopped next to a cash machine to get some cash and had some nasty comments from a group of lads.

Overall, it gets more attention than the GT2 but so far none of it has been nice frown

And no I don't live in a rough area or drive like an idiot wink
I moved from a 997 C2S to a V8V and I only ever got coffee beans in the pork and love in the Aston. You've had a bad experience, but you'll feel good karma towards you in an Aston that you'll never get in a Porsche.

Fuse 22. Look, just get it out. End of really.

If you do worry about neighbours, get a fuse 22 switch fitted. Works service do it for £300 or so. Your dealer can arrange it. Then you can have the choice....

Pedal to the metal in 2nd in a tunnel makes everything worthwhile....

Just rise above it! People like that, aren't worth a second thought!

Congratulations on the car and enjoy! driving

times are tough and people are jealous. thankfully not everyone is that bitter.

i still get the 'my 300k mile ugly camry goes from A to B too' comment every now and then, but definitely less negativity than the bmw i used to have

who cares about 'em

Get lots of positve comments on mine. In my Range Rover no one lets me out or gets out of the way but in the Aston people are very polite.

Ignore the tossers out there and smile :-)

Thanks all.

I took the car out again today and had several people flash to let me out, a group of lads gave the thumbs up and when I came back to the car in a car park there were two blokes looking around it, they then asked questions about it.

So, it seems I must have had a bad first day as an Aston owner, this is more what I was expecting smile

More importantly, the car just gets better with every mile I put on it. Took it down towards Goodwood this afternoon, some of the roads with high tree lined banks were just designed to amplify that exhaust note, pure driving heaven. biggrin

FUSE 22 !

Important to run it with the fuse IN once or twice a month or the valves in the exhaust can sieze and your car may not pass the MoT on emissions next time.

Also when checking the tyres the dates are stamped in the side of the tyre in SMALL letters. Any tyres older than 6 years are out of date and you should be careful - time to get new ones, a bit of a warning for low mileage cars which may need a set of tyres before you even start.

Enjoy!

interesting ...my Vantage has been through 2 MOTs now and hasnt had the Fuse in for over 4 years smile

..I thought the flaps purpose was for noise regs, rather than emissions ? (no doubt someone more techie than me will comment im sure)

You would not believe how many times I hear this, Firstly the flaps, they can get a carbon build up behind the flap a bit of gentle persuasion and all returns to normal, and as they should be checked on every service should not become an issue, (realistically if you have fuse 22 out permanently or the exhaust decorked and the valves did seize you would not know as you do not use them and obviously not bothered and prefer the noise)

Failing the emissions test because fuse 22 is removed, NO IT WILL NOT, fuel metering is carried out by the oxygen sensors and accurately regulate this, the cats reduce harmful emissions to acceptable levels and it is this function that is tested at the time of mot, To fail the mot on noise would mean it would have to be excessive in the testers opinion, never heard of one failing on this even with 200 cell cats and supersports exhausts that are loud, I do not have exact figures but we put through many V8 vantages and DB9's through mot's with either fuse 22 removed, decorked or switched, and not one has failed on emissions or noise, a fact that can be proven,

I guess there are not many Vantages out there with tyres over 6 years old either yet when the oldest cars are from 2005 wink
