The AMV8 is still planned for 2005 not 2010, the new Vanquish should be out a few years before that!
MWF ,
If you read the thread a liitle closer you would see that the AMV8 IS due for release spring 2005.... BUT if you are not already on the order book, then placing an order tomorrow for the AMV8 would mean you would have to wait until 2010 (because of the demand). I hope this clarifies it for you.

Lucky man. Where's the launch? Is it at Gaydon?
As for v8 Vantage v DB9.......as long as they keep the detailing (front lights/swage line etc) I think the v8 is even better looking than the 9. Still, that V12 will take some beating, so I hope they make a good job of the new 8 cylinder jobbie
Its not at Gaydon, its at the dealer where I have my order in for the AMV8, 'Grange Aston' I guess they are going from dealer to dealer with the launch!

Do I have to place an order with my most local dealer? Iwould prewfer to buy from the same guys I bouight my TVR from in Chichester... Rich...

I assume that you bought your TVR from Portfield Sports Cars in Chichester. They used to be Aston Dealers, but aren't anymore.
I would suggest that unless you already have your name at the top of someone's list you wont see a car in summer 2006. The car is due to start production at the end of '05 and most dealers have 2 years sold already.

Sorry, scanning too much!

Sorry Rich, it's not the same Wickens family, just a spooky coincidence! Trust me, I used to work for Portfield Sports Cars.

Following on from this, I met Paul at the NEC and my "letter of intent" is probably in his in-tray now. Thanks for your guidance Bryan. p.s. are you chaps likely to have the prototype/concept car on your premises at all in the near future? Cheers Rich...
Sorry Rich, but we wont have anything until the real thing appears on 06.
Hey all, first post here so just thought I would share my experiences of prospective AMV8 ordering. Just rung my local AM dealer (a Yorkshire based one, you can guess who) who informed me that deposits for this car will be collected by letter of intent date. Apperently its due for release "back end of 2005" and there is another 2 year wait after that (Which means I get an AMV8 back end 2007, if my letter goes in today), assuming all those preceding letters of intent actually place a deposit/buy a car. He could not say how many letters would turn into orders, so that timescale is, at the moment, worst case scenario. Assume 50% drop out of the letters list then back end of 2006 is more promising. Either way, my letter goes in today, but wish it had gone in when the first pics surfaced last year! Didnt have the money then!
Guess the AMV8 and DB9 will be "depreciation proof" for the first year or so. More likely they'll even make a tidy profit.
So, here's a thought....if I had gotten a number of orders/letters of intent into a dealer early enough and been lucky enough to "purchase" about 10 cars, I could sell all but one for a nice profit and may even have made enough for the one remaining car to be "free". I wonder what my bank manager would make of that plan

Most dealers wouldn't allow you to order that many cars for that very reason. Also most dealers will not sell out of territory for just the simple reason that they can sell enough in their own area and still retain the service business, so there is nothing to be gained by putting letters in with various different dealerships.
