Good to catch up . Well the choice was a sizeable chunk back or keep the new shape car cheaper over 3 more years. Being a financial fun purchase late 2019, 2020 was quiet. 2021 good times including the NC500 and a brief outing into Europe. I really enjoyed it, and wow just how good is the ownership experience. Thinking about buying one, do it ??! Ha, it's wider than a 458 Great car, great Merc engine.
But at almost 50, I fancy a keeper. And I miss my S1 Exige the most. They just do not build them as great or stty as they used to. You know what I mean.
V12 hungry I found a car, eventually. Cheaper than normal, AM dealer and a 2 year warranty. Sounded great. I'd also looked heavily into V8 AMR's but the figures didn't quite work. On the day of collection, after travelling by train the night before, what I was greeted with was an absolute nail. I still cannot believe a franchise dealer was selling this car. Whatever life it had had, it was properly hard for 19k miles. I rebuilt my S1 Exige from the ground up I know exactly what I'm looking at, it would have been a regrettable purchase. I turned it down.
Parked close to where my wife and I were awkwardly sitting was a V8 AMR, Halo with aero pack and the V12 alloys. 493 miles on the clock of a 4 year old car. I was smitten, back into an S1. Manual. Perfect.
Meant to be.
Well done, shame about the V12 being a washout but it sounds as if you landed on your luck with a basically new, manual V8 AMR .But at almost 50, I fancy a keeper. And I miss my S1 Exige the most. They just do not build them as great or stty as they used to. You know what I mean.

Meant to be indeed.

Thanks - I've had a fair few complimentary comments about the colour. Black interior with orange stitching, so it does work well.
Love driving it and find it very engaging, but also very usable. I have got irritated at times including getting the Android Auto system (a dealer-fit) set-up to actually work- I think I've got the 4th visit maybe booked in for next week in what will hopefully be the final thing.
Brakes - terribly squeaky and was told they'd be sorted by the salesman (he did nothing). First visit back they said it was a characteristic of the car, but changed one set but it was no better, they then had it back again and changed the second set (I forget which way round) and it was cured. I was disappointed, however, that they felt it ok to return it without sorting the problem, let alone the delivery.
Electrics - it has come up multiple times with warnings on the dash, notably the parking brake malfunction. Nothing is seemingly wrong with the car, with it being blamed on low voltage / "they do that" and needing to keep it hooked up to a charger if not driven for a few days - again a characteristic of the Vantage. Apparently. However, it was also blamed by someone else at the dealership on the cars being sat around for a while. Equally however when I had a Vanquish it happened a bit to start with, with the exact same responses!!! So either they need to get better batteries, keep them charged, or Aston Martin have been successful in uninventing the car in some way!
It's also notable how quickly some at the dealership lost interest in solving the problems. Car dealers being car dealers I guess, regardless of how much you pay! Well, 2 months in and hopefully the end is in sight and I can focus on enjoying it instead.
I had a caliper replaced because the writing came off. The pads replaced because of the squealing, although second time in. This being part of an AM process before exchanged of pads approved. Had the door realigned, it dropped. Left side rear arch resprayed because PPF was missing from the factory and an electrical glitch (gong and dash notification) to do with gear selection when I occasionally opened the door. Love driving it and find it very engaging, but also very usable. HR OWEN Cheltenham were great, every time. Collected the car from my house and dropped it back, 40 miles away.
And the car was awesome. So is yours

What a stunning colour combo. Well done it's gorgeous. Same story really but different on the day I guess.
Thanks! They are such a great car. Mine is manual too. Only 5 manuals made it to Australia. The model ran for so long that these are like a restomod. All the wonderful analogue aspects of the original but with a lot of modern convenience and all the bugs ironed out. After many years as an Air Cooled Porsche owner, I fancied a break and have loved the Vantage since 2006. This is my new 'old' Aston Martin, however, it's far from standard spec and has recently been subject of a modification and performance program at David Appleby.
Also has a bespoke colour; CTR Green and satin bronze DBS alloys on Michelin PS4.

Looks very good, those DBS wheels suit a Vantage. Also has a bespoke colour; CTR Green and satin bronze DBS alloys on Michelin PS4.

I watch CTR on YouTube and wondered who had bought this car. This is the one Richard calls 'touring spec' and the blue one he has is a more racey spec. He has just said recently that he has bought a Vantage S that will be getting a makeover. Also has a bespoke colour; CTR Green and satin bronze DBS alloys on Michelin PS4.

I saw that one on the YouTubes. How is that plastic paint stuff in real life? It looks terrific on the channel. Fascinating stuff. Also has a bespoke colour; CTR Green and satin bronze DBS alloys on Michelin PS4.
Thank you, the yellow accent pack really adds something a little bit special to it.
However I get spotted everywhere by people because of it so literally no hiding places.
If I call in at Sainsbury, b&q or the likes I can guarantee within a week someone will say " oh I saw your car at .....the other day"
That said I love the colour combo so can live with everyone knowing where I've been in it
A couple more

Oh I love that too. When I started my search the one thing I tried to avoid was black on black as I really wanted some colour.
However the choice was black, grey, silver and a million shades in between but no proper colours. The black and yellow was the most colourful I could find.
The newer ranges are far more readily available in nice colours other than bkacks and greys so you have chosen well.
It demonstrates how people are now far more relaxed about ordering a colour now, than even just 5 years ago where everyone played it safe with an eye on resale and went GREY or shades of.
You walk in a dealership today and all the new models are in a multitude of different colours but everything for sale 5 years or older is black silver or grey, how times change and I for one love it
