Flash from my past: 1967 Vantage 'dream spec' (in the colonies anyway). ZF, LHD manual steering, fac air-cond (rear parcel-shelf, blowing forward, whatever) orig. pale primrose. Prior owner re-color to match the instrument panel.
That epic sound...... the Weber carbs..... the ZF 'box, the best there's ever a hand put to. Dash mounted rotary dial Select-a-ride rear dampers!
64k mi when into my charge. Pushed it onto a lorry, with zero clutch-why it was in warehoused storage. My mates agreed to help as needed if I got the missus to agree: five tires, all brakes and both power-brake boosters, 4 new wheels, clutch everything, mufflers, cooling, etc.
After all, four months out was something special upcoming.
"Astons the featured marque at Monterey, we have got to be there!"
A hundred last-minute preparations, we now need be, rags down! We did a perfunctory ten-mile loop, back to load stuff, then at 1:30 a.m. departed. The first track event, after 9-1/2 hours non-stop, we arrived 45 mins early. Over 900 miles, 95 degrees, 95 mph, AC overwhelmed, windows down, blew the ......headliner!
It ran like a freight-train. All these decades in the rearview mirror, I still hear it.
Still can feel the heat saturation August in Cali. DB 6 Vantage at high chat, occupants on convection cycle.
I'm certain Gaydon Astons in one way and more, gift you the same!
