Just wanted to rant about the f*%king diabolical state of the roads in Kent and Sussex. I've already buckled a wheel on my Audi, so my V8V is off-road now until those lazy b@stards at the council stop spending all my tax on multiethnic l*sbian single mother focus groups and fix the bl**dy roads properly, instead of getting a bunch of f*cking half-wit inbreds to chuck a bit of tarmac in half the holes and then b$gger off again. W!±nkers!

Add Surrey to that and it'll be a perfect statement

I buckled a wheel on my car and it cost £300 (alloy, tyre and tracking). Just found out my AMV8 also has a buckled right rear and its in Lepsons right now to see if it can be straightened (£35 versus about £400 for a new one). I did put in a claim for the first wheel to Kent COunty Council with pictures (hole and wheel, measurements, witnesses etc) but was told some weeks later - sorry, we're doing the best we can. They told me claims are paid if they think they would lose in Court.

Lepsons straightened my wheel for £35+VAT! They said they do it by hand, and AM wheels (made by Rimstock) are quite soft, so its easier to do. They did say they had lots of jags in lately with the same issue, but could not fix most of them as the alloys are 'harder'. Dont know what this all means but I'll get mine up to a decent speed this weekend to make sure they are fixed.

Agreed.

Add West Yorkshire too. Drove through Leeds the other weekend. Shocking.

Perhaps lodge a claim through small claims court - I'm pretty sure the costs in lodging a claim are small for relatively small amounts (you'll be claiming under 2k I would think.

Attach their communication noting they only pay up front if they think they'll lose and you can at least say you tried to desl with them. Hopefully a judge would consider their arrogance in his deliberations.

And Lancashire........I've got quite used to "warming my tyres up" ala F1 style whilst swerving to avoid all the pot holes.

Oh and btw, road tax has just gone up and petrol has gone up at least 1p a week for the last 2 months in Lancashire furious

Sports Pack turns the roads into a ridiculous obstacle course. The deterioration this winter has been way beyond acceptable.

Add Essex and areas of the "City" to all of the previously mentioned locations. If less time and money was spent by the local authorities building unnecessary speed humps, all over the country, then perhaps they could get round to filling in all the potholes! The combination of "traffic calming" and lack of necessary repairs, has reduced many of our roads to a standard that is best described as "third world", (and they wonder why so many people feel the need to buy 4x4's). I suppose it shouldn't really come as a surprise, with the way things are currently NOT run in this country, that the deterioration in the roads nicely coincides with a time when we (those of us who actually bother to pay our road fund tax), are being stung for more and more money. I think we can safely say that the country is definitely going to POT!!!!

I've done 2 alloys and tyres plus tracking and I've put a bill into Wealden Council for over £500. They have acknowledged the claim but no payment yet! Help here:

My wife did a tyre and alloy on her Alfa a few years ago, I photographed the hole with a time-stamp and called Buck's (Bourne End) Council, they had an insurance policy against which I claimed. they required me to buy the new rim and tyre and then submit the invoice which they subsequently reimbursed. It can be done.

Yep same over here in Cleveland, if they put the materials and time from speed ramps in to the pot holes instead, we would go faster and they would make more money from there speeding ticket ATMs

And as for the amount of painted lines for psycho paths and parking bays (in well dodgy and unrealistic places) that just wear out and look a mess then dont get replaced ahhh.
Thers one stretch of road in Redcar that has has been painted and altered christ knows how many times at what ever cost it even had a cycle lane running round the left lane of a roundabout and speed retarders 15ft from a T juncton on to the main road..
what was wrong with the old style "double white cycle lines" down the middle of the roads

Soon we will have Russian roads instead of Roman but at least there level when it snows.

Just orders some new 20" wheels for my vanquish

Roads are a disgrace...

The local authorities and county authorities are a disgrace for not being more proactive.

I've already suffered scuffed rims and replaced tyres due to pot holes.

Often when you simply cannot avoid them and a wheel drop off the edge into one. scuffing the rim edge and often nipping the tyre wall.

I've had one side wall nipped and split, scuffed rims and the bangs have forced the tracking out which cost me money.

and yet we keep paying our council tax for this service frown

What a load of rubbish comments, we've just finished the hardest winter for something like 30 years, its just a fact the roads will be potholed, no surprise. Try being a bit more observant and drive a little more slowly.

There you go, the fact that despite collecting billions in tax and duty from motorists, due to a harsh winter the roads have fallen into a disgraceful state of disrepair because of bodged and shoddy maintenance over the last 10-15 years. It is however all our own fault! biglaugh

Timhum. With all respect, other countries have winters that make ours look like a day on the beach. Yet they have roads as smooth as the proverbial. No councils have any money left after spending it on all manner of skewed priorities. AM owners doubtless pay the most tax so the roads should be how we want them! Preferably without any other roadusers on them.

Well toofastforme I'd like to know the countries to which you refer. I travel a fair amount and everywhere seems to have similar problems with road maintenance. Its a shame Glynmo has to be rude, I guess the roads in France are all perfect.
