Hi Guys

Rick can you get paintwork done? My detailer has noticed the bottom of my door is bubbling and my warranty expired end of March. Would not mind having the front end done to get rid of the road rash too.

Mark, I only wrote to Rick literally over the weekend with a similar enquiry so I'm sure he won't mind me including his reply. My main concern was the fact that Rick doesn't do the paintwork in-house (there's no doubt his reputation is excellent in all aspects of maintaining an Aston) so my query was rather with the third party who would be carrying out the work.

Hello sir, I fully understand your concerns as my reputation depends on the work we do and the comments of the owners i can assure you that the paint work is of a very high standard as it has to be, We are currently fitting and painting some n400 sills to fit to a V8 Vantage to be able to give an accurate quote for the bodywork realistically we would need to see the car, if you did wish to consider using us for this type of work what i would suggest is a visit to our workshop this would give you the opportunity to look at a car we have painted as well as us giving you a complete price, you would also be able to talk to my painter directly so any concerns could be expressed, Then it would be completely up to you as to whether you wanted us to complete the repairs and no offence would be taken if you declined

I'd imagine there are quite a few existing owners who reach the point of wanting this done. I'm also considering, when the paintwork is done, to get the lower front end and arches fitted with 3M or similar.

I had the front spoiler done (tungsten) and used Works Service which including a wheel refurb was app 4k.

I think the paint warranty is like 10 years isnt it?

so any bubbling paint etc should still be covered by AM ...Id check with your local dealer before paying for it yourself

LOL ...I must admit, Ive had whole cars done for £4K in the past ...not simple jobs either ...TVRs in flip paint etc

can you buy and fit a brand new front spoiler for under £2k?

I think we are getting confused with what we think you mean by "front spoiler" wink

Hi mark if the blistering is from beneath the paint and not caused by external factors such as stone chips then this should be covered by the 10 year body warranty so a dealer visit will be necessary, as for any other paint work I can gladly supply a worst case price but if the other paint is covered by the warranty then you may be able to negociate a price for the rest as well,

Paint must be the hardest thing to deal with in the automotive industry, the effecs of uv, how the car is cleaned and protection materials waxes etc and god forbid anything silicone based all have an effect, never mind the differences in materials look carefully at a plastic bumper then a composite wing and you will see a difference in colour, and dependent on the colour some are more noticable than others,I do use a seperate bodyshop for the actual painting but I am fully involved in all aspects any removal of panels etc and this is carried out by us, quality control and responsibility for any work still remains solely mine,

10 year corrosion warranty? Did'nt know I had one. Yes it's under the paint and not caused by chips. Can I take it to any Aston dealer even one here in Switzerland?

I believe so in the statement in the owners manusl it clearly states what is covered by the perforation warranty and no mention of international boundries,

Following some evil feral child who brushed past my car on the weekend with his bike...I'm just about to get a quote for a small '10 pence' sized scuff which perfectly overlaps the front bumper and light assembly panel....I'd better be sitting down with oxygen at the ready when I get it now.

I guess this does not apply to older models such as my DB7 GT (June 2003)

"The Warranty period for a new Motor Car and Chassis is Two Years after delivery"

I have to admit, 2 years is a bit slim for a car in this price bracket.

So I guess the 10 year corrosion warranty is for newer models only?

06/07 onwards perhaps?
