Gear stick removal?

anybody know how to do this?, doesn't want to unscrew??

its in the V8V but imagine its the same as DB9 etc.

need to fix this squeak before I drive it of a cliff!

dealer is fkin useless!

push down and twist anticlockwise they can be tricky so patience and brute force are needed.
