Got say i've had a really positive response in the 4mths I've had my Vantage, waved at 3 or 4 others and all have responded smile
Also a few other performance car enthusiasts have flashed or waved at me which is nice so they get an appreciative response back.

Waved at about 5 Astons, only had one response, and that was a lady driver in a DBS.

Last week I waved at a guy in a and early seventies V8 and he gave me a look like I was something on the bottom of his shoe! Next time I see him the gesture will be something very different.

I for one will carry on waving though.

Trouble is, too many cheery commoners own Astons now.
Old school don't have to acknowledge status.
You should be happy you're quite anonymous in an Aston,
at least you're not spat at, like you are in a Ferrari (it happens)
and you get let out at junctions a lot more smile even though I did in the griff too, I don't in my Audi lol

Wantanewv12, it would be nice to get a successful response from at least one fellow Aston! Am driving a black V8V, plate is 97RS, look forward to seeing (and hearing) you on the local roads!

Judging by this thread, it would seem there are plently of friendly AM drivers, just seems like we mostly live in completely different parts of the country! As for the rest, pity the fool...
Might be a little quieter than usual. I am pretty sure that I got caught by a mobile speed camera yesterday on the outskirts of Oxford heading south yesterday - forgot to take my road angel for the first time in 5 years furious
I was right - summons came through today. Dual Carriageway but 50 mph speed limit. Unfortunately speed is easy to take on board in such circumstances and I was clocked at 76 mph. Anyone with any experience of what is likely to happen. It has come through from the Fixed Penalty Unit but doesn't say that that is what I should expect.

Hopefully you will get away with 3 points and £60; but 76 in a 50 is the reason for the summons where the outcome is at the magistrate's discretion:

ACPO Guidlines said:
Magisterial discretion (level 2) maximum of:

1. £1000 fine

2. Licence endorsed - range of penalty points available

3. Disqualification

4. Compulsory re-testing
Good luck.

Yes, because you're usually both sitting on the hard shoulder waiting for AA to arrive and it would be rude to sit there in silence.

12+ yrs of TVR ownership... Times sat on hard shoulder ... Big fat 0... Ok once when got caught in a big downpour with the roof off on the way down to Le Mans once. hehe so stopped under a flyover to put hood back on.

I know of oh so many others who have had pretty much faultless ownership for many years.

I'm touching wood the Aston gives me the samesmile

9 years TVR ownership. Chimaera and Cerb.

Chimp one throttle cable snap. Nothing else

Cerb.never let me down.

Total mileage 90,000

Unfortunately non tvr owners have listened to slightly too much of the hysteria and absorbed it.

It is not a summons yet - it is the notice of intended prosecution of which a fixed penalty is one of the potential outcomes. I was hoping to hear that others had avoided a ban in similar circumstances if it progresses, as I suspect it will, to a summons.

In terms of the car I guess the GT3 I owned presented similar problems but during my ownership of 2 997's and an AM N400 I managed to avoid any offences - the road angel helped. On this particular day, probably for only the second or third time in 5 years, I forgot to take it out with me.

What is the accepted practise in Aston Martins?
I believe it is correct form for a gentleman to simply cock his left index finger slightly. Leave waving to drivers of lesser cars.

Na thats just the driver being beten up by the car while trying desperatley to keep controwl of it.
eyes popping out of there heads, teeth clenched, the idiotic grin, muscilar spasoms, asses wrapped round the seats, and other reactions related to the physicaly and mentaly chalanged, are Just classic symptons of a TVR driver at work.
Even Cerbras have a vent in the steering shroud to keep your ass cool and take away the smell of a fresh botty bup.

I just abbused my tuscan yesterday after 2yrs of storage then streight back in to the vanquish to educate 2 TVR 350 owners on how smoooth and easy 160mph can be with hands off the wheel (and how fast the wallet guzzeling meter needle moves).

.AHHH life is so easy in a Aston (but ill always have a TVHA HA)

with a bit of luck just send the completed forms back and you will be given 3 points and 60 quid.more than likely this will be the case because you will be deemed to have assumed a delimit speed limit of 70 mph due to the dual carriageway.

Went to the FoS on Saturday as a brand new AM owner, and passed 5 AMs. Waved at all of them (2 DB9s, a DB7, DB5 and V12V), and happy to report got a wave back from all of them.

Driving towards london yesterday afternoon and slowly caught up and overtook a beautiful looking DBS MY10 in Lightning Silver. Surely the best colour for this particular car. As importantly the owner gave a courteous smile and wave as I passed which of course I was happy to return. Two drivers enjoying the benefit of magnificent machinery on a perfect summers afternoon.

I got done for 52 in a 30 zone which ended up in a court appearance (I sent in a letter as I could not attend on the day in question); 6 points and a £75 fine.I think it all hinged on the fact that it was 20mph+ above the speed limit (which might be the same in your case).

Good luck

I find that many drivers are oblivious, but come across true enthusiasts often enough; a DB9 fifty yards from home last week and a Rapide in the Hatfield Tunnel a few weeks ago.

Had a nice wave from the Griffith driver at Felbridge today.

Saw the most beautiful DB5 in East Grinstead this afternoon. The driver didnt see me which was a shame as i wanted to acknowledge his stunning car. Maybe he doesnt the peasants smile
