£40-50k, which Aston?

Just found £50k in my sons money box, but which Aston to purchase. He, junior, says buy a DB9 whilst I am thinking Vanquish. So, which to choose?

DB7 GT
Needs to be resistant to depreciation and will only be used high days and holidays. You guys will have a better view on the market than I, any suggestions gratefully recieved.

It has to be a DB9 or the Vanquish. The problem is i dont think you will be able to buy a well sorted Vanquish for that sort of moneyDB9

No point coming on here looking for sensible answers to that list! Not a wrong one amongst them. Depends what you are looking for from the car - starting with, how many seats, type of driving - GT fast cruiser, sports, etc. Then there is rhe question of manual vs auto vs semi auto gearboxes.DB9

No idea on the most resisitant to depreciation, had a V8Vantage for 16 months and probably only lost 2-3k if I wanted to sell it (which I don't!), but would expect similar on any of the cars on your list.
Best advice is to go and test drive a couple of each and see which suits you.
Nice dilemma to have, was in a similar position last year (minus raiding childrens moneyboxes!!

Moved from an Open top car to a Coupe and do miss the open feeling but would cut my right arm off for a V12V so will have to get used to having a roof unless they bring out the Volante version

Out of the list you give, V8V for me. You'll get a better spec car for that money, and it'll be more reasonable to run cost wise.
Vanquish is beautiful. But you'll be looking at an older car and it'll cost a wedge to keep right.
DB7 has never been my thing. I'm one of the few people that doesn't think it looks that great. XJS in drag, with Mazda 323F rear lights as the icing on the cake.
Front end of the DB9 looks a bit like a pouting fish to me. Though with Sportspack wheels and in darker colours they look OK. Again, 50k will buy an older/lower spec model than it would a V8V.
Take your son for a good look round and get some test drives. The buying process is all part of the experience. And would be good bonding time (as you've just plundered his savings).

I looked at a couple of DB9's at this sort of money and was disappointed. As there are no DB9's (afaik) at Aston dealers at these prices you will need to spend another couple of k getting a warranty. The ones I looked at were 04 and 54 plates and both had upgraded stereos that were crap. Both had some rattles from the dashboard up near the windscreen and there were signs of the hand built finish failing in some places around both cars. I was left quite disappointed. I did look at an 06 car which was much better but you won't find one for 50k. In this case I would probably go for the V8V as you will need to make some fairly serious compromises (imho) in terms of either price or age for the others to make sense.

I would say V8V too ...its the most useable and cheap to run
I wouldnt want to take on an out of warranty, older V12 engined car myself
Just had the 50K service on my 2006 V8, £250 at an indy, its cheaper than a German saloon to run, and just as reliable, truly the first Aston that mere mortals can use as a daily driver

I'm surprised DB9 owners feel the need to be out in front. Unless it's so they can be at the front of the pension queue 
I would wager there is little/no difference between the two performance wise, on a mix of A to B routes. Just different characters getting there.
