Thanks very much for the info chaps and Rob, please pass my thanks onto your friend.

So, to summarise ... Questions I should ask or bits to look for are:-

- Have the sensors been upgraded?
- Remove under trays and look for corrosion
- Thorough check over SH
- Gearbox & Clutch check

Hopefully most of this should be covered by the 140 Point Main Dealer check and a full service.

Have to thank everyone for comments (in main thread and PM).
Had people get in touch who know and have serviced the car along with all sorts of useful info in general.
Great things these forums and the people on them!

Just to update ...

I went back to the dealer to look over the cars history file and was reasonably happy with the work that's been done.

In Nov 2007 it had a new security module, bushes, engine noise etc sorted at HWM, with a £6k receipt

In June 2008 it had the magnetic sensor upgrade and ASM setup, then a recon gearbox and new clutch and a broken spigot bearing replaced, new battery and new flywheel assy, with a receipt for £10.5k!!

It had discs and pads in April this year and is currently having all 12 coils and 12 plugs replaced, Engine drive belt, together with a 45k mile service at Aston Martin Derby, which will be around £4.5k

Regularly serviced throughout (only listed the major items above).

Spoke to Pete at the Aston Service Centre and to Rick at DMS, both of whom were really helpful and answered all sorts of random questions that I had ... Thanks chaps!

So, knowing it's had the sensors, new clutch, new gearbox, recent discs & pads, along with all the coils and plugs and a clean bill of health from an Aston Main Dealer, I've bitten the bullet and paid my deposit.

Thanks for all your help guys ... In around 2 weeks, if you see a Black Vanquish with the driver wearing a silly grin from ear to ear, that'll probably be me!!

Now will post some more silly questions about owning & driving!

Big congratulations on the new vehicle. Perhaps you can come show it off on the 7th November as a few of us meeting for lunch in Broadway (see South West link) at 12.30. Not seen a black one in the flesh.

Here I was, minding my own business, trying to control my excitement about picking the car up on Friday ... then I get an email alert saying 'reply to post' ... Now I am sure to get absolutely no more work done for the rest of the day !!! ha ha

Deposit is down ... all the minor bits and bobs I wanted doing are being done and all being well car should be ready for Friday collection.
I'll be sad to see the Ferrari go, as it realy has been an epic car and a real privaledge to own, but we need a 2+2.

I am hoping that the Vanquish is equally one of those cars that continues to excite after many months of ownership, as the 360 has been.

Will keep you posted !!!

Not quite ready, so next Wed pick up now.

I asked them to autosol the rear chrome strip on the boot, as it was ever so slightly pitted. They couldn't get it all out, so they have removed it and sent it away to be stripped, coppered and rechromed (without asking!)

Quite happy to wait for it all to be right and gives me confidence that they seem to want to make sure I am 100% happy with it!
