Ok..

I am starting this thread to try and find out if there is a specific order to the warning lamps on the DB7's clocks that might be better for the majority of drivers.

We all know the steering wheel hides some of the obvious ones so listing left to right what would be the chosen preference if a new strip were to be produced.

Now the new strip would be made from modern materials and using modern printing methods so it should appear much brighter when illuminated.. with this in mind would you want to move any of the warnings?

Myself I would first move the Traction Control lamp. and also bring the indicators inwards one space each. As mine is a manual I have no need for the autobox warnings etc.. so I would look at moving these to the most hidden spots and blanking them out.

Ideas, thoughts and of course suggestions are welcomed. Firstly I will be producing a mock up on the PC and might look at some of the newer cars for inspirations on warning icon styles.

Sounds like a great idea, moving the TC light would be good as I have switched it off several times when reaching for the roof switch.

Indicators are the main thing though as you've said, especially as they're hard to hear.

I did blow a gearbox ECU once (TouchTronic) so don;t do away with it completely smile

Phil,

Some more detail please. Electrics first. Are you moving terminals, altering circuits, I'm thinking will it compromise the existing loom? Adding or subtracting the bulbs behind the printed strip or replacing with more up to date LED's?

Printed strip. Are you intending to copy the decals exactly as originals and keep the colour scheme the same?

Ease of installation and a possible method of doing the job, or is it for a professional outfit only?

Originally I was simply going to produce a replacement strip that anyone can replace.

Hopefully this would be more transparent than the original with better icons, either coloured strips, coloured and smoked strips or plain by using coloured LED's coloured by the light.

I then go to thinking that maybe one or two warnings could be moved,, however this would mean either altering the printed circuit on the back of the clocks or by swapping the actual wires around on the multi-plug. (this would require a special tool to release the pins without damage)

I have the tools for this so I can do it with ease, the tools are available from RS and should be approx than £10 so it's an avenue that's not closed at this time.

I'm just scouting for ideas... as none of this might be worth doing, maybe some, possibly all.

I always have to shift my head to one side to see the TC light as I often flick it off when driving with spirit (not drink).

I'll experiment with some acetate this next weekend and see what the results are.
