I do hope so. Aston's rather obvious recent search for its soul has in my opinion come up with little more than a fair idea of its own navel's layout.
If the cars must now share their fundaments with lesser machinery, then far better to let a styling house of such daring and progressive panache loose on the marque once more. Perhaps some semblance of a new direction might then be hammered out with the men upstairs.
It could be that i've got it all wrong, of course. Perhaps what they're planning is a brand new db4gt-z, identical but for being a couple of inches higher. That's what they lusted over when they were nippers, after all, so it's bound to work for the next forty years too.

Aston Martin posts don't seem to get huge response on PH... not sure why, for me, Aston has everything: power, noise, exclusivity, great looks, BRITISHNESS etc etc...
anyway, having said that, IMHO Aston are a bit wide of the mark with the new Zagato. It just doesnt have enough 'Balls' for want of a better word. Compare it to this:

Hmm... gotta remember this is more of a Zagato creation than an Aston one...
It does carry the (Zagato derived) double bubble, and has some neat touches.. although I think the mouth is a little too big at the front of the car.
The untreated leather looks LOVELY.. and you'd definately own something different!

Well, taking a cruise around PH I came across this thread; slightly irrelevant, but I quite liked the '80s Zagato. I saw one a couple of years back at the Mason's Arms near Windermere. It was an absolute shed, dull blue paint, dinged panels, tatty interior. Even my scruffy TVR looked good parked next to it. On start-up the Aston smoked and rattled. It was owned by a couple from Leeds sort of area judging by the accent, but what a pair they were. The bloke was a bit medallion-man and the woman seemed to have been stuck in a Dynasty-esque time warp of big hair and clattery jewellery. And she could have (loudly) talked bollocks for Britain.
How the hell a hundred grand car ended up at that level remains a mystery to me. What a bloody shame.
