New customer process £300 - didn't do it as a matched quote as above, just purely as a new customer, so will now need to send them their own proof of no claims letter.
Admiral do that, I got quoted significantly higher on an Audi S3/BMW 135i than the Aston - it's down to how many people actually crash them, and being a young male.....

Also, for giving them the proof, they give you a website, you enter the new policy number and the old policy number and click send and it's done. I've done it every year for a while...

Mine is cheaper being parked on the driveway than in the garage. Did have a telephone conversation with them as to why - the agent on the end of the line couldn't explain it, but was happy for the car to be parked both on the drive and in the garage throughout the year.
Post office renewal wanted £2012 for my V8V, I've managed to get Admiral Multi car down to £1200 and £350 for the Golf. Dropped £100 off each for leaving them on the drive rather than both being garaged. Madness, but thanks Neil.

Price has now dropped further with Admiral to £1130 if stating it's left on the street rather than the drive / garage! I queried this when renewing and it's down to statistics in the computer........ Apparently if it's on the street there's less chance of a thief knowing which house to break into for the keys. As I'd asked the question the call is recorded against my policy and I'm now covered where ever the car is left overnight.

I agree Shunt - daft scenario. Mine is kept on the driveway.

I remember reading as part of the breakdown section in a previous Insurance Policy that it was covered so long as the breakdown was over a mile from the registered address ie to avoid homestart claims.

I assume you would thus simply tow it for a mile if the car wouldn´t start one morning, then give them a call smile

Or push it for a mile if you did not have another car to tow it!!

Hi.

Has anyone ever heard of the Prestige Car Insurance? Are they reliable/established for a long time or are they known to be a spam of some sort? I am not from the UK and would like to know whether anyone has ever heard of them or have been with them with their Astons.

Cheers.

Can't help with Prestige I'm afraid, but I would whole heartedly recommend the AMOC scheme with Locktons, top notch cover with competitive premiums - give them a try.

I have already contacted Locktons and am currently awaiting for a quote from them... but at the same time Prestige approached me with a quote, so am just wondering at this moment, whether anyone has heard anything about them or have been with them before? (because they quoted a price which is a LOT lower than what aviva quoted me... don't know if it is legit)

I think Prestige is under insureyourmotor.com, has anyone heard of them?

Cheers.

Figured I would share my findings today and collate the telephone numbers of the list I called so anyone who reads this can just rings the guys without having to look anything up like I had to (how good am I to you lot?)
My stats are: 2007 V8V roadster - 36 yrs old - 10yr NCB - Live in Cambridgeshire - Mrs is on the policy - No accidents etc 6K miles per year, includes business use, includes legal cover

Nowell & Richards (01785 255514) - Underwritten by Aviva - £854.50 (£850 excess)
Locktons (0207 933 0000) - 7.5K miles - £951.90 (£750 excess) or 5K Miles - £767.38 (£250 excess)includes agreed valuation and a deal on AMOC membership
APLAN (01707 393936) - Group Armour underwritten- spelling? - £850 (£750 excess but F&T £500 excess)
Adrian Flux (0800 369 8590) - Provide all my details but they never rang me back so they will not get my hard earned cash!
Footman James (08433571909) - £1875 - was the best they could do so I didn't ask for any other details...
Chris Knott - They outsource to Locktons for these so nothing they could do as I already had a quote.

For those who lare looking at insurance or it os on your wallets horizon, Quick update for the fast approaching third year of my V8v's life and consequential hunt for insurance. The quote from Admiral for renewal of my multi car policy was significantly less than insuring the four cars individually. In particular the Aston was nearly half the next quotation, having looked at the names listed in the various posts above.

Some wouldn't quote for a car over £50,000 in value, some wouldn't quote because it's mainly on the drive or I use it for business use. Anyway, Admiral again for me for third year running! Worked out as big savings for everybody else in my family too, so keeps them all smiling.
