Insurance history
Wrote a car off other year which was my fault.
Live in middle of countryside so I don't think it is that, I think the postcode is rated as B.
Hmmm.. somthings not right though - when my wife bent my Discovery it was an own fault claim ("lost control" is the insurance entry) at £4000+ for the repair and that put the Aston premium up by £12 (yes twelve pounds).Wrote a car off other year which was my fault.

I've you'd bent something pricey (no offence to your Fiesta) then I would think it was more logical.
Insurance eh - its a lottery.

Well it would have been quite a bit anyway since I'm only fairly young, but it does seem odd when it doesn't affect others as much. The car was a write off and they paid out just a bit below £7.5k. Don't know what went down on the report as, but I was driving too fast for the road and ended up rolling it. George, I know a 21 year old in Wigan who's cheapest insurance he could get on an Audi S5 is £7000, due to age, history and location. Unfortunately it's the way the system works.Shmee said:

Glad it isn't just me, but £7k for an S5 is extortionate Hopefully I can look forward to being older and getting very cheap insurance when they see I have experience of powerful cars
And 22 Michael, 23 in August

You say that but my insurance on the V8V is literally only a small touch over my Audi S5, getting myself quoted on a BMW M3, and most shockingly is less than a 135i...
Yes it is a weird thing insurance. When I rang up to get a quote on my Polo GTI when it comes in September, it is almost half the price of the Ibiza Cupra which is the exact same car underneath!Only good thing about it is it stops me driving like a dhead like I did before, if I made another claim, the Aston would have to go, or be downgraded, as I dread to think what the premium would be

Seconded, an accident in the Aston and sadly I would have to go without too I think.andyxxx said:
George - don't look forward to being older, just to save money. Enjoy and revel in what you have at your age - hats off to u that u can afford to run the car.
Thanks Your right though, shouldn't wish my life away. Luckyluciano said:
Mines £600, no mileage limit and business miles inc. Though I am 35.
I couldn't pay that amount of money to do 2k. To me it's a waste of a lot of money.
Money comes and goes, I'm enjoying it while I have it. You may be right though and when I'm older I may regret it. Bet I would be more gutted if I didn't do it though.I couldn't pay that amount of money to do 2k. To me it's a waste of a lot of money.
Every time I worry I'm spending too much I look at this cartoon, reminds me to do what I want.

Admiral have just called me.
If I go multicar they'll offer the Aston at £469, Treg at £368 and Pug at £154
All three cars for less than I pay now for the Aston.
If you need to pay monthly (which obviously nobody on PH does) the price for finance is horrendous.
1 x £62.13 + 11x £61.97 for the Aston = £743.80
I'll be popping insuranc eon my card i think!

I'm with Admiral at the moment. £5600 per year, but the service has been good. They were also the cheapest by far.
Just caught up with this thread.George, I've had to sit down and make the sign of the cross when I read this posting.
You weren't going to a prom when you rolled your car were you?
This could explain your irrational dislike for them
For once, I have to challenge Mikey K about Insurance Companies losing you for life if they hike a price - it's human nature to still get a quote from them the next year just in case they are competitive again.
I'm with Locktons / Chubb at approx £850 for 5k miles on a value of £75k.
If anyone is using Elephant etc or any of the search engine companies, can you give me any feedback on repairs as every broker I speak to says their policies do not guarantee original parts. An AM with vauxhall stamped parts under the bonnet would not be an appealing sight
