Pootling along at reasonable 3figure speed(private road-naturally )suddenly aware of a horrific grinding/crunching sound!.Pull off to find the tw@ts had'nt secured the front arch liners ,tyres have torn 'em up with friction holes by now,do a bodge up roadside job to get me home.Irritated but can't be bothered to chase it up with the garage-They're not having it back!
Apart from that(& the shockingly hard Tein setup-ouch!)-still grinnin'

Getting a Tein setup in a week or so - Flex. Seems to be really good kit - adjustable pre-load plus stiffness and height. Ouch on the wallet though!

Which kit did you get?

If you want to sell the two rear wheels I'll consider them, as long as they are pretty cheap though as most people wont want two.

Tein HA (now discontinued)Height adjust+20 pre-loads,very stiff (drift shox really)-but excellent on good road surfaces/tracks.The downside, imo,is that on poor cornering surfaces the back end will skip out a bit more than usual,& under about 40mph they can be really uncomfortable. Dial in plenty of compliance when you set yours up

Pulsatingstar:you mean wheels for drifting yes?I havent yet decided what to do with the Hasemi wheels-I'm kinda attached to them, but I am going to be flogging the present(set of 4) silver 5-spokes,when I get the Volks shod.Keep you posted.

Had a brill meet last night-convoy of 5 assorted skylines(550+bhp down to mine 340bhp.)& 1 beaut vielside etc kitted RX8.Some Beemer lads turned up for a challenge too-serious launch tyre wasting went on on:d -esp with the big R33 V-spec.Got some pics, will try to post a few L8er.

I think the Flex should be a bit more street friendly than the HA (I'm guessing the HE replaced HA?) - anything will be better than the shagged out crap on there now, dead dampers and rock hard springs leading to bouncing rear wheels rather than nice spin!

As long as it doesn't sag under cornering and acceleration, the abck box was scraping the ground at weald airfield last week!

Iaint,Yes HA is similar to HE model with 68mm drop & more pre-load settings iirc.If your used to hard shox, then you'll prolly find 'em pillow soft As for saggy cornering, not a word of it,car will hold level & true(check out that track pic I posted here last week )They're really well made too,You'll love 'em.IMO suspension upgrades are always money well spent.

I wouldnt go for Flex myself. Gimmick imho. I know people that have used it and gone away from it but its probably good enough for what you want.

Im getting a 2way and suspension over at the moment, probably trying not to go the Tein route actually.

Doesnt matter whats on it anyway if its not set up right.

Seems about the most balanced for what I need it for - mostly road with occasional track, reasonable price. Certinly not planning on becoming a drift meister. Seems to work well for a mate on his FD.

You're right about the set-up. If I'm not happy with the initial setup adjustment is included in the fitting price or I'll take it elsewhere.

The RA setup would be okay but is likely to be too hard (much higher spring rate) for comfortable use.

Tein stuff does seem to be really well made which is always good!

Looking good Tuttle! That 8's prety good too, bit of an improvement on the standard item and that's a pretty car imo.

Lee - the springs are 10 front and 8 rear kgf/mm.

The HKS Hipermax I have on at the moment are 9/7 (I think). It feels really nice on the road but on the track it was way too soft, especially compared to the old ones I was using.

Should be pretty good for you all round though with them rates I would think.

Lee

Sorry for hijacking into the thread with a bit about FD spring rates!

S'pose I'll have to start a 'liner no longer banged up' thread
