In my wallet.

Just bought the bits for the suspension rebuild.

Ouch. You don't want to know how expensive superstruts can get.

Comiserations!

I'm looking to replace mine after jan/feb next year and it's not going to be cheap. Seems like there are no cheap mods left to do on my FD - everything's well
over a grand!

Although, running TRD top mounts, TRD springs (25mm drop) and new uprated shocks and control arms, coupled with a rear whiteline adjustable ARB should mean it will handle like a 1300kg go-kart......

No change from 1500 quid though.

Yep, I'm trying to find the most cost effective way to breach 155mph at Brunters... Fensport reckon a Garret GT28 turbo, WI, and 272 cams. I think the cams are a bit much, 254 would probably suffice...

The more harsh the cam, the crapper idle, and general running around town is going to be. betetr off with a port and polish to improve the induction... On a side note I had an indicated 172 on a spirited drive one day, so taking into acount speedo error, with your setup it shouldn't be too difficult! Just need a decent run up!

Not sure if a lightened flywheel would help or not.. gain acceleration, but lose top end speed I think... Rememeber to take out spare wheel, coats, jacks, all that stuff to get car as light as possible. I reckon a port and polish might get you there. Should work well with your induction, and exhausts system..

Commiserations to your wallet MrE-I feel your pain,my wallet knows it too
Gaz-get Mrs Gazboy to destroy your credit cardsNOWIts not too late to save yourself
Low mass fly-wheel will help general response/quicker pickup. The down side can be lack of power on hills & such,as spinning inertia is lost thru the weight saved .This can be a really useful way of getting more response from your engine but prolly won't give you any 'top-end'iirc.Your own uprade plans will get you thereThe guys suggestion for a port & polish would definately be good idea.Achieving pure top-end speed is,unfortunately, the most expensive route.Weight saving-throwing out unwanted stuff is cheap.IMO good tyre & suspension setup really start to pay their way at big speed too.

Gaz,iirc this is a standard mounted IC,to really make efficient use of an intercooler it really needs to be in a good cold air flow position, which is prolly why many ppl go for 'front mounted'& I have to agree there. However if space is limited at the MR2's nose, or you do dont want your front bumper cut to fit an FMIC(in front of your radiator)look for a design that has largest possible surface area with the most cooling slats/fins packed for best efficiency.
Good link for explaining I/C efficiency below.

Then I'm sure the Greddy kit will be fine.
BTW the i/c from a 200sx is about the same size(large bible),has angled(swivel)in/out piping-so can prolly fit into rear engine casing, without too much stress. Can be picked up dirt cheap s/h & are good for 300+BHP.

Causes absurd lag, and the plumbing becomes too extensive... Some people do mount an intercooler in the boot, with some big bugger fans drawinjg in the air...OR... RS200 roof mounted intercooler?

£995 on the fensport site, for a 28...

Garrett GT28 - Internal Wastegate, complete with actuator & Flange, exhaust & Oil drain flanges.

*Guide:- Our entry level garrett turbo, is ideal for cars which have outgrown the CT series power output, but still don`t want the lag associated with the larger turbo kits. 1 bar boost is available from 3,400 rpm, for power outputs up to 420bhp.

Dragging thread back on topic.....

Ahem. The Four has superstut suspension. Think double unequal wishbones with complications and you're close. Unfortunatly, it wears out.

So. I have just purchased:

2 x lower suspension arms
2 x fig 8 (camber control) joints
2 x front shocks
2 x rear shocks (20% uprated KYB items)
4 x TRD springs (25mm drop)
4 x TRD topmounts (stiffened poly jobs to replace the rubbers)
A bunch of suspension bushes.

I'm also seriously considering a whiteline adjustable rear anti roll bar to further resist understeer.

It will be a 1300Kg go kart.

Sounds most excellent dude-suspension/handling upgrades are a most righteous choice,& often overlooked-because they're largely invisible.Looks like the Four has quite a complex setup.btwI've heard good things about the Whiteline kits & they're not stoopidly expensive.
My R33 is also having fr susp rebuild at mo(twin wishbone in a single frame, lower susp arms, camber adj rod, bushes etc)luckily its an insurance job but its still silly:crazy:money>They're doing some body panel work too & its taking ages, cars been off the road since mid Aug

Tell me about it mate. It's quite a trick setup, but a total bastard to work on.

Interestingly, when the WRC cars were delivered to TTE, they took one look at the suspension, said "very sophisticated" and then ripped it out and bolted standard McPherson struts in......

....more adjustable, race proven, stronger, easier to fix, etc.....

So you're in the odd situation that the road going homolgation special has a more advanced setup than the race car.....

The whiteline ARB should further stiffen the back end to resist understeer a bit more. This is a good thing.....

Hey MrE I was having a quick lech at your car(on yourvery interestingweb-page & st205.net.I love that shape 4wd celica-very under-rated car,but was struck by the odd horizontal intercooler, not the position(scoobys do the same)but, why is it sealed in a box?I could see that its below a bonnet vent-but how does the cold air get in?
p.s.not trying to wind you up-just treat me like an inquisitive, annoying child

That'll be a chargecooler then, good for cooling to begin with as water has a greater heat latency than air but once hot they are pants though as water takes an age to cool down.
