Gaz, lovely looking car.

Passenger ride at VMAX please!

Surely theres a pukka 3rd party grille for the car (a la MX-5). I've seen home made ones on '5s and they look well, home made.

Congrats mate. Keep us informed.

I suspect the only solution to the brake issue would be UK spec/aftermarket brakes mate. Even fancy discs aren't going to help the fact that it's got puny rotors and tiny calipers for a 160mph rice rocket.....

Good report & thanx Gaz.
Like with the MRT I think you'll find the Supes' handling very tyre type important-good,wide stickies esp the rears are gonna help no end.I couldn't agree more about the cockpit either;it's not inspirational, but its all there to hand & that cool wrap-around dash always feels like being in a flight deck to me.
One could draw some comparisons with skyline ownership over the size/width & weight issue, its truely one of my personal bug-bears with R33 too-tight parking can be a real worry.Luckily the plus points help to cancel it out.Same can be said for thatfeeling of speed thing, not that quick off the mark, but once cars in its stride it'll fly up/wellover 3-fig mph figures before you know it(alledgedly ),& feel quite relaxed about it too

However, if I come back from Vmax in my usual mood, then I'll be whipping the cats out and running 1.2bar! (about 370bhp).

Does it have some kind of boost control,or did you strip out the Blitz from the MRT?
Whip the cats out straight away mate! Its free power
(so-long as you have a bit of pipe to replace with that is).

Enjoy it mate

I couldn't use the Blitz from the MRT as it was a single turbo application, I may get a twin turbo controler though.

Did you happen to keep the goodies mate, maybe for a certain impressionably MRT owning PHer?

Very, very nice car. I was going to get one a while ago, but insurance costs meant I could only get a UK, and not a twin Turbo. Very hard to find a non-chavved, single Turbo UK (pref manual) Supra. I did find some hens teethy & Rockin horse sh*t on my travels tho.

it's £550 for all round fancy discs and pads, or £2800 for just the front UK brakes, according to Toyota, or £2000 for a full big disk 6 pot conversion (all round).

Have you tried www.fensport.co.uk ?
They have Genuine Toyota Disks & Pads for a couple of hundred a corner. I am assuming that it means Genuine UK Toyota.
If, by mistake, you happen to order the 10pot brake conversion for a '92 GT4, I may know someone who would be interested.

That's what Toyota quoted me (translation: " off out of my shop"). I can get the discs- it's the calipers and mounting brakets I can't find.

ebay? Might be worth a look. Or in the back of Autotrader, there's usually a Jap specialist breaker in there. Plus, Fensport occaisonally have bits lying around. Could be worth a call. Unless of course, you dont want 2nd hand.

Gazboy - that is one seriously sexy car mate. I considered the Supra over the FTO as I need an auto. But I went for the smaller Mitsubishi in the end.

Hopefully will see it at a PH meet soon. Don't think I can make the Jap Meet now

Thats fantastic news! Just read this thread.

Thats a nice clean example but you know what a blank sheet of paper means...

You didnt comment on the attention it gets! Have you had the kids/grannies/chavs/boy-racers yet?

Its hard to stop driving it isnt it - until you have to fill up with a tank full of optimax!

This is true, but it's £550 for all round fancy discs and pads, or £2800 for just the front UK brakes, according to Toyota, or £2000 for a full big disk 6 pot conversion (all round), so unless iv.supra.net are doing another group buy of UK brakes pretty soon, fancy discs it is (actually, it's the pads that make the difference, need the grooves to take the glaze off the pads).

I changed my FD's fromt disks/pads to BlackDiamond Combis with Hakw HT-10 pads. The stock FD breaks aren't shabby but I spent 2 weeks pulling up a few car lengths short at traffic lights!

A worthwhile mod imo and probably enough for most applications. Track work might require the upgrading of the nreak lines and fluid though coz that Sup is a big beastie.

Nice car, looking forwards to having a nose at the meet!

what's the supra good for anyway?

thought it was up near 170mph de-limited !?!? suppose any reduction in front-end lift at those kind of speeds would be greatly appreciated!!

also, I presume not, but does the hoop-wing actually do anything to reduce lift?

The pre-production cars managed 181mph, but I don't know their actual specs, what they had or didn't have.

indeed... could be a bit like the 9ff speed record.. "it's faster than a Macca F1, if you take off oine wing-mirror, the wipers, and tape up the panel gaps on the front"

hope you meant germany for testing that Vmax !!
