Good I luvve the spoiler mate - keep it on.

Me too. Looks naked without it. Just like MR2 and Celicas looks stupid without spoilers.

And the FTO looks crap without its spoiler too. IMHO

Boy Racers ! Fast and Furious wannabees !

The spoiler looks rubbish. Lose it, or suffer from extreme levels of chavness.

The Supra is actually a very clean, very modern shape that does not look like the 10 year old design that it is. With the spoilers it actually looks more dated and more old fashioned. Other than Evos and such like, the trend now is for subtle spoilers ( witness the Enzo for proof). The spoiler makes the Supra look old and from another time.

Junk the spoiler.

And I am right and you are wrong. Cos I have impeccable taste. So there.

The coolest car in the world right now, the one machine that everyone adores, seems to be the Aston Martin DB9. Now imagine that car with a spoiler like the Supra's on the back...

It would look rubbish would'nt it ?

The Supra is a really undersestimated car. One of the most accomplished cars of the past few years IMO, and not appreciated for just how good it is.

It does not need spoilers to shout out its intent. It is better than that.

In silver or grey with subtle alloys and no spoilers it would look stealthy and classy.

a turbo Supra can tread softly and carry a big stick. It is one of the most formidable cars on the road. No need to shout. And a spoiler 3 feet high is the equivalent of shouting.

Supra's actually look a little bit "off" without the spoiler, and imo they really need it. I got the bonnet vent done on mine, and also had the limiter taken off and increased power slightly to match UK cars (at the time I bought mine 1997 UK cars were really difficult to get hold of, so I had to get mine from Japan). I had to make sure it had the UK type brakes and alloys as the jap ones are not very good.

The auto spoiler comes down at 100kph, or you can manually bring it down but only when stationary, drive off and it comes back up again. Driving on a motorway once doing indicated 260kph and the car was extremely stable, turned spoiler on and off and was convinced it actually works and not just a gimmick, could be the mind though lol. Car had more to give too, so I'd guess top speed circa 170 or so.

Had my lower and auto spoilers colour coded as I reckon it looks better.

The handling is v good but I've heard it can be improved further. Engines are tops, but dont sound much, you can just hear a loud whistling sound lol, cool in its own right, but a good exhaust can improve things.

Lovely car, congratulations and may it bring you many many days of enjoyment. I;m sure it will.

Cant think of anything else other than make sure traction control stays on in this weather, but she is very controllable and easy to bring back if you lose the back end. enjoy enjoy enjoy!

Hmmm - the spoiler debate

Personally, I think if a car is designed by the factory to have a spoiler, then this is taken into account by the designer and the car will usually look far better with it.

Those designed by the factory without spoilers don't suit them. Our TVR Griffith would look shite with a spoiler.

But then I also think the same goes for wheels to an extent. I have never seen a set of aftermarket wheels on a TVR that I preferred to the factory fitted option.

Anyway - back to the original topic - Gaz mate - your car is the Mutts Nutts

That spoiler was factory fitted so what would be the point of removing it, it looks CRAP without it.

Each to their own. If that car had big wheels and was lower by 30mm it would look gorgeous WITHOUT a spoiler.

I agree.
Supra's dont look sily without it, they just look much better with a spoiler. All IMO of course.

Aha!that spoiler debate again.
I think the black one above looks great too,& agree,a suspension drop & different wheels would really finish it well. Also agree with the original spoiler supporters,as Gaz says it is designed in & proportionate(sp?)to the size/shape of the car.I can't remember seeing any after-market subtle spoilers for a Supe' that wer'nt hediously laughable anyway.

I'd nearly forgotten about that. Its this Sunday, isn't it?
Are we arranging a time? Or is it an "as & when"?
I'm not bothered either way.

I agree about the brakes Gaz, they somewhat.....lack feel Are you going for the UK's...I'm thinking about the same route. If not, what ones? Cant wait to see pics of the wheels/brakes.

I fitted the walbro pump and FCD at the weekend. The pump is a nice/cheapish way to replace the 10yr old one and save the engine going lean...scary.

Oh, also fitted the NGK coppers (1 grade colder) gapped to 0.8mm and it fixed a small misfire up very well indeed. Just incase you come across one in the future....

Update:

New big brake conversion has been ordered, 4 pots all round, 300mm discs all round, stainless hoses and ceramic pads.

If 300mm doesn't sound big, think about this- stock is 258mm. Any bigger requires 19's or big ass spacers.

Nice.

315mm 4 Pots fit under my 16" wheels just fine mate....

It's the calipers that need the clearence, stock UK cars have 17's btw.

Mmmm. Same here (16's are bloody close)

I was under the impression the UK supra and GT-Four brakes are pretty similar.
