A colleague of mine has just had a front brake calliper replacd on his MR2, with a non-Toyota part (because it was over £100 cheaper). He's got no problem , apart from the fact that it's a gold colour instead of the black of the other ones.
he's like to get it painted but isn't sure whether special paint is needed, and the best time to paint it e.g when is the car's in for service and the wheels are coming off anyway .

Any advice appreciated, as always

You can buy special brake caliper paint at most auto shops, quite pricey iirc £20-25.00ish.Though any decent hard wearing & more importantly heat resistant type paint should be OK.
Obviously he'll want the wheels off for access, but can be done in an afternoon easy.

I tried to set up a link, but my computer is being crap. Try www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/catalogue/search.asp?keyword=caliper+paint&CLS=all&brand=all. I used them for my Saxo , and they lasted ages.
