It's not the coin holder (Toll booths in Japan).

On the extream left hand side of the dash, between the A-pillar and the demist vent, is a square plastic thing, worked out what it is yet?

On the GT4 st185's its round. Its actually a "Solar sensor" which i presume has to do with control of the air con.

seriously now. My mate had a newish polo. Last of the old shape ones. On the B pillar, behind the drivers door, almost in the rear footwell is a secret button.

You press it and the light on it flashes. You press it again, and the lights stays on.

It does nothing else at all.

Sounds like the Imopreza's bright switch!

Yes, the Mighty 185 gets an unprovoked mention!!!

Have no idea what this solar sensor is though?

I pulled the coin holder out of my MR2, all it did was rattle when I put coins in it and drove me insane. I replaced it with a blanking plate such as the one that neighbors it. If I need to do a manual choke in the future it would be the ideal place for a switch

That turns the ultrasonics off for the factory alarm so that you can leave your dog inthere to cook in the summer sun without movement setting the alarm off

The solar sensor is used in conjunction with the climate control. Essentialy it cranks the system up when the incident light is very high, because you can feel much hotter from the radiant heat of strong sunlight, even though the cabin temperature may not be any higher.

I'm must be more silly than the rest of you put together. Just read this thread and was compelled to go outside on pouring rain with a torch to check! Please to report I have said cubby hole (I had noticed it before, but thought it was a fusebox cover).
