Thanks. your original chain lasted longer than mine. I will now change my oil every 6000 miles as recommended by the garage that did the work .. let's hope we have no more issues

Hi- I know this is an old thread so apologies for re opening the can of worms!

We're having the same problem with our 2007 2.2dci xtrail. We've been told it could cost a lot of money to replace the Timing Chain as it involves the engine being removed (who would design a part that can't be replaced without removing the engine?!!). It's done c115000 miles.

However, it seems that you managed to find a cheap way of obtaining a new timing kit. Could you let me know where you sourced it? There's all sorts on line but a trusted source would be invaluable.

Also, were you getting a lot of engine rattle as well? I'm hoping this is the source of the stalling and both problems will be solved in one go.

Best wishes

Mike

Got mine back today and running better than ever
Just wanted to say Thank you for your post. I have been having the same issues with my Nissan Xtrail. I have had it diagnosed as timing chain stretched. It is currently with the garage I purchased it from to have a look at what they think. If it the timing chain that needs replacing, I wondered if any one knows where I stand, as they put a new chain on earlier on in the Year, and I was sold it a couple of days later. I do have proof of the timing chain being fitted as its listed along with the service reports. Thanks, would appreciate some feedback if possible.

Hi guys
I myself found my 2.2 X Trail stalled I found by changing the suction control valve at th rear of the engine done the trick.
Very easy to do yourself I purchased mine on line £70 four years ago.
Be aware Nissan want to sell you the pump when not needed.
Regards hope this helps
