Hi all

As per the title which car do people prefer or choose?

The car will be used for weekends mainly as I have another car for work. The work car was bought with my car allowance and that gets me A to B and any minor runs where I don't need to worry about warming or cooling a Turbo car down, not that I drive on boost constantly.

The weekend car needs to be 4 or 5 door (need boot space) but ultimately something that will give me the smiles per gallon out of the box, as I'm not interested in big power gains, will be happy with an exhaust mod only.

I did have a WRX wagon but I felt i bought it too quickly as I use to have a Classic Impreza 15 years ago. It was a good car but I did not want to spend money on the car to get it to a standard I wanted and it was OK but not as 'WOW' as I wanted it to be. The interior wasn't the greatest but it was an Impreza and it didn't fail me!

The reason why the Spec B 2005 is an option
Pro's
2.0 Twinscroll
Estate - plenty of space
AWD
A little more grown up
Con's
Generally cost more to maintain from tyres to servicing costs

The Accord Euro R 2003/4
Pro's
K20 engine (Like the idea of a high reving engine)
LSD
More of a unique factor over the other Honda's and other JDM imports
Serving cost are lower than a Turbo car?
Con's
Will I regret the lack or Torque over a Turbo
Will I regret the high pitch noise when rec'd high Vs a Subaru (then again a Twinscroll does have UEL headers)
Small boot

Ideally would like something that I can enjoy on weekends with the family and maybe an occasional track day. Something that will keep its value or have a better appeal as I found that the Subaru scene is saturated with second hand cars being stripped for parts or are poorly maintained rust buckets or knocking engines. Don't mind a Subaru but I rather have something unique, rarer and sleeper'ish.

I love both of those cars and would happily have either.

Just buy which ever is best value for money. Which ever is the best example for your money.

The Legacy will be much cheaper than the Accord. I think the Accord has a chance of keeping its value more than the Legacy over time but they cost a fair bit to buy in the first place. The Legacy can be had for much less.

Its a tough one. I personally prefer Turbo over NA but I still miss my DC2 for those perfect summer days with good roads.

Might also be worth thinking about the 4 door Integra Type R, rare but cheaper than the Accord and likely to hold its value better in my opinion. There are also a load of other Japanese turbo 4 doors like the Mark II, Crown, Nissan Laurel etc that might be more fun than the Subaru being RWD.

RWD laurels or Yannis 😂 worth a look I've never looked into them but then again I've never owned a RWD.

The Integra 4 door not keen on it as I rather have something with a few creature comforts, the Accord would do that. Then I go full circle and think the Legacy maybe the better choice.

The 05 Liberty GT wagon I owned was probably the best all rounder I’ve had - so much so, that I’ve now got the 2013 version.

Engine is a bit old school, with not much under 3500 but it does spin to 7600 cut off easily. Chassis allows some fun and it does feel like a grown up WRX. It’s all robust stuff that we’ll known. Handled all the crap a family of five could throw at it but was ultimately just a smidge too narrow across the rear bench.

Worth finding one for a drive.
