How did the Sterte Garage RX7 get on track? When I heard it at idle, it was deafening.

90db as measured by the officials. Maybe you heard it witout a baffle in the 'zorst although I'm 99% certain they had a new exhaust system fitted that means they don't need a baffle.

Last time I heard it on full chat it was scary but @ 'fest it was too quiet!

The Sterte Rex did have a new 'zorst system,I was chatting to the guys on their stand before they went out. They recconed it was 'almost silent' compared to the other one, which was somewhere around the pain thresh-hold in db's.
The car seemed to do pretty well out on the track, not stunningly fast, but holding its own with the Evos & thrashing most of the 'liners.-when I saw it anyway.

seems the scooby lot are asking for feedback...
http://forums.sidc.co.uk/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=38077

I like the way their complaining 'they didnt have enough space!'..

I'm tempted to suggest, 'dont bring as many cars next time'...

No clue what the colour is called but it tastes kind of like blueberry but not quite.

Hi,

While I'm not going to back you up, I do want to help you out.

I agree that you had the same spot since the start of JapFest. The same as the FTO stand, the Fords, the MX6 club, and a couple of the others were in their usual spots. I do feel that the RX7s (one of my fav stands) and the celica's got a very raw deal this year though.

The FTOs were really (really) crammed in, and squeezed right next to the Supras, who were also very packed in.
The scoobies were on the main through fair from the paddock to Quarry, and I felt sorry for all the owners having their cars walked into - I was amazed at how few people seemed to have any respect for the cars on display.

All in all it didn't make fir a very nice day for people wanting to look at our cars or those of us who wanted to show them off.

On the other hand, there wasn't really much space that was unoccupied.

I would rather the organisers limited the places availabe to each club at the start - most clubs now have an idea of expected turn out for their members, so they could 'budget' for this.

To echo Nichola's earlier comments - the organisers need to get their fingers out for next year if they want JapFest to remain popular.

I thought the scooby turn out was impressive. A tad samey - mainly because I know very little about them and what to look out for!!! Good to see a solid turn-out by the members.

It was largely out club's fault we ended up with such a crap spot - we were vary late getting our stand registration in (initially we were told there was no room for us!). Also our turnout was absolutely crap (bit close to rotorstock i guess), really poor, although a few of 'our' cars were on other stands or randomly parked due to the crap organisation.

The thread on SIDC was interesting... would be very interesting if it leads to them having their own show although I'm not sure how many other people will go to a one-make show if they don't own that make.

I think Japfest could be in trouble if 2 things happen next year: 1) they don't sort out the space and entry a bit better; 2) it rains again - it's amasing how little things (even beyone their control) colour people's view.

Not sure if I'll be bothering next year unless I get round to track time and I don't fancy the public sessions.

I watched such a small amount of track action on Saturday, no where near enough.

The traffic chaos resulted in not getting the car parked until just after 11.30am then rain in the afternoon, add to that trying to get around the site and saying hello to friends and I must have watched about 5 mins of action.

If the current format remains then I will not attend next year.

It is a shame that japfest has resulted in lots of grumbles and barely any praise.

I might go back to C.C. for 'rally day' in the summer and see if things are any different.

Rally day is ace!

The thing that annoyed me at Japfest was we had club stand pass and track time pass and got turned away saying it was full. Had to leave and get in a traffic jam for ages to get back to public parking.

Tried explaining to people you need to be in the paddock to get on track and they didnt get it. Then we finally get in, and people are being allowed in the paddock again!

I don't think organisational probs particularly lie with C.C.stewards etc more the event organisers.Have been to quite a few events/club days etc there & have always found things very well setup.

Plus C.C. needs all the positive support it can get at present, still under attack from noise NIMBY's.

Another one gone then.
We started off early in big convoy from E Gordano services,I always enjoy being part of a convoy, were behind a white R34GTT with lambo doors!(only one in Europe aparently-actually it looked OK).
Weather mostly cr*p wet start, dry by mid morning, torrential rain & v cold wind at 2.00ish.
So,no Sony tent this year posed a bit of a prob for meeting up with PHer's.Dispite plenty of searching the only other car I spotted was MrE's glorious GT4,oh & said hi to Opieoilman too.
Imo,the trade stands were a bit 'same old' this year, tho some of the tuners were uncharacteristicly(sp?) chatty & spent most of the day watching track action.By far the most entertaining group were the Evo's & a strange little green car, whose wheels were never straight for more than 0.5 secs.
Have some good pics, will post a selection once I v'e had a shuffle thru them.

Hello

Other then the weather I thought it was a good day.

During the mini hurricane we did loose our gazeebo, but its not the end of the world, some other traders had some real problems when there tents took off into the Lancer section

Was nice to put many faces to names.

I will be there next year.

Cheers

Guy.

I went to Japfest a few years back, (2003 I think, when either the Norris evo, or ryland escort managed to scrub up the side of their car). Was a great event, and very funny to watch the scooby's enter the event. Like every other jap event, (JAE, Bolney, Boxhill, etc) the scoobies are like lemmings. They all drive up, in their blue cars, with gold wheels, get out, and they have on their obligatory blue scooby jackets, and cap, as does the wife/child. It truly is the one section of Japcarsville that you can say seen one, seen them all!

I'm flying to the States on 9th of june, so getting everything sorted for that. have to arrange for my little ferocious tiger to get flown over as well.
Are you Nicola from mr2oc?? As in a few years back, whos bf had a scooby, and you were thinking of being all treacherous, and deserting MR2-ville?? If so, I think I met you in Warwick, or somewere on a wee meet thingy? I think. I am close to 30 now, so memory has all but dissappeared!
