the Evo's (all three of them)

You poor deprived people, missing out on so many Evo's. if your Govt was as lazy as ours and didnt care what gets imported you could bring in anything from the Evo 0 (early 90's turbo Galant, built to compete with the Legacy RS) right through to the 8, or have they released the Evo 9 now? I have trouble keeping up at times.

For what its worth, I like the fact that all jap cars are "lumped together".

Most techy questions can be answered quite quickly, as most Jap cars are built in a similar way.

And if it was single make forums, we might as well use the ones that are already there. At least this way, PH's has something different to offer. I like it the way it is.

All IMO of course

And another thing, to reinforce the point. The casing point is that once you've tried Jap, you never go back so some of the guys on here can help with queries on cars they used to own - e.g Gaz the MRT guru

With the Jap cars, I've always assumed that the dedicated forums elsewhere on the web serve owners really well and that PH couldn't bring anything to the party by dedicating forums to them (similar to MG, Caterham - the PH forums tick over but aren't popular).

The Jap forum here has gained a life of its own in the last year or so and I suspect that may be because it's not attempting to be a lesser replica to dedicated forums elsewhere.

We can change it if required, but I can't see a Scooby / Evo forum working here for example.

I have to agree with that - I came here from the Honda forum because I found it too cliquey. I've also visited Scoobynet and the Civic Type-R forum, and found them all to be rather, ah, biased! Understandable - we all are to a degree. But I like the diversity on here...and the fact that us Jap-owners find it easy to wind the Tiv owners up when their cars keep breaking down or blowing up!!!

Keep it as it is. I don't have a Jappy-mobile anymore, but it seems a friendly bunch, and seems a shame to seperate them all into seperate forums. It's nice as it is, and most are knowledgable of more than one brand, and have an appreciation of other jappy cars. Just my twopence.

Keep us together (not enough of us to split the place up anyway).

As a non jap car owner I like it as it is - I have a interest in most jap stuff whether it be a RX7 or a Cappucino - i think it would become too diluted at present if it was split. Likewise the French Bred forum works well in a similar way (we can all console each other when bits fall off)

I mean, we just don't have that many members. Having said that, is it because we have a mixed forum that stops people posting here?

Someone on the first incarnation of this thread said that that was the reason they didn't post.

Seems a bit daft to me - it would only be an issue if the places was so busy that the font page completely changed each day.

It's swings and roundabouts I think...

If there were dedicated forums for each mfr I'd be more inclined to post if I had a question, but there wouldn't be any point because there'd be nobody in there to answer.

So, probably best to keep it as it is ; though I rarely post in Jap Chat I'd post even less frequently in single mfr forums. I think Ted knows what he's doing.

I think you get a good amount of people answering threads, regardless of the brand in here. There will always be a regular who will have an answer, or will take the time to find out for you. Keep Japchat as it is!

I like the diversity here... one of the reasons I post. Oranges are not the only fruit. Not enough of us posting regularly to justify it anyway.

Maybe there should be a Swedechat section for the Volvo and Saab owners instead of separate sections?

Saabs are okay if you like that sort of thing

ETA: Did anyone ever make a copy of the 'sisters' DVD mentioned earlier?

I like the mix here, I can see the point made that as JapChat is a mix of manf when other makes have their own sections but as there are only a few of us here makes sense to keep the mix!
