Does anybody know if the bushes at the end of the shifter cables can be sourced in this country? My girlfriends 14 plate Swift Sport wouldn't go into reverse this morning and inspecting under the bonnet one of the shifter cables had popped off at the gearbox end and the rubber bush that holds it onto the selector arm had split in half.

This is a photo of a replacement bush I have found from an old ebay listing although there are none currently listed.

I've found them available in the USA but was hoping to get it fixed quicker without buying a whole new shifter cable from Suzuki.

No unfortunately not. They are the bushes mounting the shifter assembly and the bracket that supports the shifter cables to the gearbox. The bush I am looking for is at the end the shifter cable that attaches it to the selector arm.

Thanks though

I put one of these over each of the cable holders never had an issue -

Do they come with those from the factory then? Obviously I don't know if our one did as the cable was already hanging off.

No, those are just star washers that a designed to prevent nuts and bolts vibrating loose. Presumably Kev managed to smash one over the pivot to stop the cable end falling off.

Absolutely fine on the shocks as long as you don’t go too low. Measuring up mine are about -30mm from standard with 10mm rake measured from the jacking points.. They are highly thought of in the Renaultsport forums which is one of the reasons I went with them. Good compromise for some quick road use and daily. Not used them on the track yet.

I’ve an copy of the B14 manual which will give the TUV settings. I set it at the Manual settings but it seemed to be high so went with the drop to the height the lowering springs were at. I can send if you message me an email.

B14s a good option, also popular with Honda owners

Both the Clios and Civics/Integras respond well to a rear anti-roll bar or increasing the size of the rarb

I've now sold my SSS, so the unfitted Tein H Tech Luxury Springs, Cusco rarb, Hardrace rear engine mount, Powerflex camber bolts & Rallyflapz are up on ebay

Just got myself a ZC32 3 door in blue. Proper fun little car. Anyone on here stripped one for track days and hence has no carpet? Trying to find a pic of the inside floor without the seat and carpet as i want to see if its feasible to lower the seat without hitting structural parts of the floor. Quite a lot of modern performance cars seem to have silly high seats IMO.

I am going to experiment 3D printing some gear cable bushes in a flex filament soon too. Want to replace the OEM ones before they leave me stranded somewhere. I would buy the PU ones above on ebay but at £37 EACH its just cheaper to buy new cables if you want to do the lot. Especially when, selling resins at work, I know each one is about 1p worth of PU resin so £37 of profit seems a bit excessive even for "development" costs.

Once I get the filament working, I will print a load out and will be happy to send some free to other swift owners for testing. I bought a 1kg spool of filament for not much dough so I can probably print 3 billion of the things if it works!!!!

Hope it works out as the main option is a piss take as you say at £30+ each and realistically you need two. One under the lever in the cabin and one over the gearbox. I think once you have replaced with the PU you can forget about it forever. The other part of the linkage design looks a lot more robust so there isn't really any need to replace the whole thing which is a lot more difficult than just popping a couple of bushes in.

After a lot of searching previously I found these https://www.aliexpress.com/i/4000909135818.html which I'm pretty sure will work.

I think the guy selling at £30+ a throw has had a good enough run to stop it now!

Same here, I have fitted a crush washer to hold it in position as advised above but the actual rubber bush is completely mangled so not really a permanent fix.

I can get a picture if you want mines fully caged and I have a floor matt in mine as no carpet (Ironically I am adding a carpet over winter)

As for linkages just put a crush washer on or buy this kit

What tyres are people running on their SSS?

Partner has one and finally run down the woeful Falken’s that came with it.

Naturally I would go with Michelin PS4’s as the best option but would be interested to hear any other options.

Hankook Ventus seems to get decent feedback. Need something with far better grip, particularly in the wet, than the Ziex POS.

Goodyear F1 Assy 5. Really good tyre and a keen price last time I checked. You have to run 205 to get them. I go with 45 profile on the standard 17" wheels.

On your typical UK road 205/45 makes a lot of sense and the speedo still over reads a little so no worries there.

Even in the wet you have to be pretty committed to unstick them. They are quiet and also have good feel. I haven't tried PS4 but they would have to be really special to beat the F1 by any margin.

The washers look like a simple way to stop it popping off but if the rubber has perished, you can wiggle the cable back and forth before the slack is taken up.

I am working out how to turn off my filament sensor as the flex filament makes it go skitz and it keeps telling me to load and unload repeatedly despite it extruding ok - if a bit runny. So once i get that turned off I shall print some out.

If you can get the pictures that would be awesome!

I’m running Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 at the moment, they’re a lot quieter than the original Continentals it was supplied with.
