RX7 verses TVR Chimaera 500
Discussion
I was just about to say;
I'll happily take on a TVR in a race like that, it would be fun & interesting to see the result. I actually have no idea which would win, and I've had a Griff 500.
However, my prediction would be based around whoever has the outside line into the bend as this massively influences time taken over the course, even if it doesn't really affect your terminal speed through the beams.
I often let the other car go on the line as this is the usual way it works out;
-Scooby streaks away from the line with the lead
-After 70 mph the other car catches up and passes the scoob
-Other car brakes for the bend
-I brake much later and enter the bend at least 20 mph faster than other car
-Other car strays off line and I have to brake or avoid other car and slow down
-We both exit corner together with me muttering under my breath (bit more sometimes)
The only way to do a true race would be to do a timed lap, IMHO.
See you there!

person behind generally gives way but track is wide enough, unless you like to go badger hunting
Mail me offline if you like or have a chat with you Sunday, mines YELLOW, you cant miss me
Catch up with you Sunday then, should be fun I'd also like to have a run with/against mr Gazboy too. Supe vs FD is one of the really serious rivalries around!
Gaz - you're welcome to have a ride, you can make sure I don;t take a wrong turn!
The brother of the guy I bought my MR2 off had an RX7.
His dad had a Griff 500.
To quote both sons; "if you want to see something really fast, have a look in the garage."
Guess what was in the garage...
The TVR.
Saying that, an RX7 is definitely not slow and the result of a drag race between an FD3S and a Chim would almost certainly be determined by the launch.

What are the results then! Cant believe no-one posted anything last night.
My top speed for the day was around 157 - not sure about Iain's - he was too far behind me to see his speed trap readout
Iain did manage to drive his home though - my coil fried in the heat :bugger:

Murdered on the way to the 1st corner... I need to practice launching some.
Topped out at 153 with intake temps of 77
better intercooling required and bigger rad on the way.
Also now need to source new engine mounts and some decent breaks both cracked on the day.
Rounds 1 and 2 to the chim though.
Iain
drive home was uneventful apart from the tapping on the breas from the crack! Hope your chim found a willing trailer mate!

Got home and decided to take Petra out for a meal to soften the "I broke bits on the car and now need to spend a small fortune to make sure it can whip the ass of bloody Chimaeras" conversation!
Nice meal and Batman movie and she was mostly receptive to the idea with one caveat... walnut dining table!
