R34 GTT vs. S15 SpecR

well they're both very similar in price.. R34 has the advantage of 2.5l straight-6 over the S15's 2l straight-4, but other than that, they're very similar cars aren't they? And I prefer the looks of the S15, and you wouldn't have that nagging "should've bought a GTR" feeling all the time ;)

I'd go for the Spec R. really is a great bit of kit! Rare, (ultra rare), great looks, great performance, etc... But I wouldn't throw either one out of bed!

You wont be able to get an R34 GTR for the same price as an imported S15. If you get an R34 thats *not* a GTR then you will alway regret not getting an GTR! Personally I would get an R33 GTR which is in the same price range.

I dont know. I think id get the S15, but im really worried about the price on them just collapsing as I think its too high at the moment and cant be sustained.

Apparently, there are NO MORE R34 GTR's being imported,alledgedly the SVA body haven't yet pulled one apart for safety componant check.Is this true,anyone?

Tough choice! The s15 is,undoubtedly, the rarer car,very sought after.Prob has more 'interest' value.Parts hard to come by? or ludicroulsy £££? I imagine running costs would be pretty similar.
S15 does only have 4 pots & 2ltrs tho.
R34's very well put together & always get tons of attention.Possibly greater tuning potential.
GTT engines are a bit of a pig to work on btw(access).

oh I couldn't decide,depends on what you really want from it.

Anything post 98 needs a model report I think. It's rather expensive.

Not strictly true. Due to the ESVA rules it is much, much harder to import one but it is possible and in fact Prospec can get you one and register it, if your pockets are deep enough that is.

very much enjoyed the two tours of france I've done in the mx5, and want to use the next car in the same way (replacing "france" with "nurburgring", and the idea of doing that with <15mpg makes my credit-card shrivel up like a crisp-packet in the oven....

I seem to think, maybe slightly foolishly, that the S15 (always been the favourite out of the above two) will be much cheaper to run generally, as the majority of the mechanicals are the same as the S14, and they can return good mpg if kept off boost a bit....

P.S. REALLY Fks me off how they've made importing such great cars (R34GTR,Supra etc) a real barsteward to import now... what purpose does it serve!?!? were they really doing anyone any harm? and the fact that it's fine to have a '97 supra, but not a '98 one is just complete boks !!! rant over..

The same dilemma i was having however mine got decided by my garage,
the R34GTT would not go through my garage doors with it being 2.2 metre's wide !!!
they are basicly the same floor pan,but bodys alot bigger on the skyline,
so its s15 for me too,just need to find a good one
finding a low mileage s15 in good condition is not easy

the one you have posted up is a good one,i know where that is,the mileage is a little to high for me though.

Both great cars, tough call, but a nice dilemma to have all the same

GTT is bigger, heavier, probably thirstier, but more tunable and (IIRC) a bit roomier inside (if that matters).

S15 is great looking and the opposite of the above, but will you always think "I should've got the skyline...?"

Nah... the Spec R is just as good as a skyline if you ask me. looks the business, backs it up with performance, and like most Jap turbo nutter jobs, just as tunable. I'd have the spec-R in a flash!

well i did not measure it myself i asked over on the skyline ownersclub,and 1 of them went out and measured their GTT for me.
