I've got a mate who bought a 300zx, and it's lovely to look at, if you don't mind a smidge of 80's... pretty quick too, although it's a heavy car 1600kgs+ IIRC.

the water pump went on his about 3 months after he bought it.. was done under warranty from the place he bought it from though, so don't know how much it cost.

Good piccy all the same! I think i'd be happy with either a Z or a supra... Both are pretty friggin brutal!

Decided not to consider rotary power then Kentish?

If you're not too far from SE London then I'll take you out for a spin in mine when it's back from the fettlers.

I do really like the RX7 (mkII) but they are a fair bit more money than say a 300z or a GTO.

I'm currently leaning toward a GTO or a 300z ....I think

And many thanks for your kind offer of a spin and I may well take you up on that sometime.

Not enough around I suppose... Load sover in the states, and loads of the saloon versions! I still yearn for the white one that 'Drift king' has! Beautiful!

What's an AE86?

Do you have photos and details?

Came with a 1.6 16V engine, but don't let that put you off!! Cracking car, and rwd, with plenty of hooning ability!

Bear in mind both have very crammed engine bays to work in, though the GTO is slightly worse as it has a transverse angled V6, making it very difficult to get to the bottom row of plugs of the TT engine.

Skylines are ahem good value!

Same as him.

Can't wait until next week when I get mine.

Is it right for a grown man to be that excited about a car that he can't sleep? I did not even feel like this when I picked up the M3.

I had the same problem, had to wait 2 weeks for mine and kept dreaming about it, Now I have a super r32 GTR on the drive and she goes like stink

Kentish,

Not sure on your criteria, but the ITR's gotta be worth a look...won't be straight-line as quick as the 6-pot turbo'd cars on your shortlist, but point-to-point it should give 'em both a real scare. Not a GT on the continental scale, but I did Coventry-northern Cumbria and Coventry-Cornwall without any real discomfort.

Plus although fwd it really is a fun car to drive in every regard - can take liberties and have fun, or can drive it smooth and just keep pushing the limits back and back 'til you chicken out. I've not yet driven a better all-round car...and it's comfortable enough to do 4hrs with only a single pit-stop.

Decent ones now are £7k, but factor in a few bills looming and sub-£10k will see you with something pretty mint...and the engines, if looked after, are near-bulletproof. Are those on the turbo'd machines???...and how do you know the previous owner didn't turn the wick up too far for longevity??? Lotta 300ZX's around claiming silly numbers.

Just a thought...it's not an evo 5-star car for nothing!

I don't reallt think reliability is a great issue on Jap cars... Stock anyway. God knows what some have done to cars though...
