RE: Will Honda replace the S2000?
Discussion
"The Comptech Supercharger kits will add more power to your S2000 at the higher RPM's, keeping the car drivable in traffic & day-to-day driving, but throttle the engine to redline & you'll feel the burst of acceleration from the additional 95-110 horsepower at the rear wheels."
Would make a great racer.
Prelude come back BTW. I'd my eyes on a 3rd Gen '93 red 2.2 for a while. Kind of mini GT imo.

If they made a 2+2 fixed roof, it would need to be different in some respects, definitely. Perhaps the engine would need some 200-400 cc more. But suspension components, platform, crash structures, electronics, in short the expensive bits, could be utilised more broadly and that would surely be no bad thing? Better than compromising the S2000 itself IMO.
IMHO Honda could make 3 or 4 cars off a common platform:-
- 2-seat roadster - S2000 successor - light, focused, stylish
- 2-seat coupe - S2000 hardtop - even more hardcore potentially, TypeR version perhaps plus 'normal'. All panels from doors forwards could be shared, as would all structure.
- 2+2 coupe - more sophisticated, more toys, wider choice of engines...i.e. pitch STRAIGHT at the 3-series coupe. Doors and bonnet could be shared with above two, as would basic structure.
- As an 'as well'/'instead' - a 2-seat folding hard-top, more luxury-focused.
All would share engines, suspension, basic structure, electronics, interior trim (to a degree on the 2+2)...
1) and 2) could have completely common platform, a-la Z4 and Boxster/Cayman.
3) would probably need a slightly stretched platform with a broader track...broader track could also be shared by the TypeR version perhaps.
4) would share probably A-pillar forwards...might need to use some of the 2+2's underpinnings for space.
Development costs would be perhaps 50% over a direct S2000 replacement (more w/ foldy-tin-roof one), but IMHO sales would probably be double.
whaddya reckon?

I know some tuners down the road from me that are Briston Performance, they have lots of perofrmance parts available and an all website coming soon i think, i may be wrong but i think they also are looking into making a limited production modified s2k with more power and better interior.
Im not an s2k person but i can see why they appeal. They do sounds really nice. And looks a pertfect setup.

S3500: V6 US Accord mill in . . . 300 hp+ and torque.
Nah, RB26DETT. Then tune it for the same high revving madness.
OMFG!!!
On a serious note...a iVTEC N/Asp I-5 would be c.2,500-2,800cc, would sound fantastic, and would give enough torque to overcome any weight increases...plus the iVTEC would fatten out the mid-range (which is the F20C's only real weakness). Do in 2 settings - ordinary engine redlining at 7.5k or so, and Type-R redlining at closer to 9k as now. Normal engine probably near-250bhp, Type R engine would kick out easily 300bhp...and in a small(ish) 2-seater, who NEEDS any more?!?
(OK R1, you could shove a supercharger on if you want and go GTR-baiting! )
