Mole, just thinking (ouch!), but staying within the same gendre but going for a different car, how about an Escort Cossie? Either that or keep the Integrale (nice). Skylines are a little more 'refined' than the rally rep nutter bast@rd EVO's and Scoobs, but still delivers big smiles. I just think that an Escort Cos would be a logical step, no 'driver aids', fantastic handling (allegedly!) and loads of tuneable grunt, much like a 'grale with less class but plenty of pedigree.... let us know what you decide....
Either that or 'how about something completely different'? ie TVR / Lotus

Cossie is nice, but serious money. They hold value *very* well. So, expensive to buy, but you should get most of it back...

Today was yesterday when tomorrow was today (probably )

Went and looked at it but it is in a body shop having the stone chips done. The advantage was I got to have a poke around before they valeted it and made it looks sweet for me to purchase. It is midnight blue with a FSH and very straight, just a few stone chips. The interior is in good condition but mucky. It has been to Middlehurst and they checked it over, gave it a major service and put a few other things right. To be honest it was a really nice car. I'm going back next weekend when they have swankied it up to take a proper test drive. The brembos looked mint indicating it hasn't seen too much hard braking action. I'm going to phone Middlehurst some time this week to try and get the lowdown, I'll keep you informed

Yeah, I did go and test it, I have to admit that it was very mint and looked ok, but that's just it, it was all ok. It was a standard GTR and it just wasn't that fast. My Integrale is not standard and is a bit of a monster, it also has the suspension and brakes to match. While the Skyline was very fast, it just didn't do anything for me. I feel that I will one day own a Skyline but it won't be until I can afford a beefy R34. In real world terms I'd say my Integrale is definitely quicker, and a standard Scooby WRX would hold it's own.

Fair play - I have to admit the raw bruiser good looks of the R34 are worth the cash alone, but they holding their price extremely well making them pitch against some other very nice machinery indeed.

Shame it wasn't inspiring, my concern has always been that the Skyline is too heavy but then I shouldn't knock it until I've tried it - it's not as if my P1 is the lightest car in the world.

I can't help thinking, from the way you've described your beastie, that you should try the Evo. I did and thought it was too extreme for day to day usage but it might just be your bag.

What sort of EVO? Would love a Makkinen or an Extreme but they are just too much at the moment. Would love to get my hands on a decent STI type RA or type R. That P1 is very nice by the way

Ta very much!

I think you should give the Evo VI / VII a go. The one I tried was an Evo VI in bog standard form. It has razor sharp responses and is a true driver's tool - although I thought it would be too harsh for day to day use, 'cos there's only one way to drive that car - balls out. My license would last about 30 seconds in that car.

(Not that the P1 doesn't endanger it every time I drive the damn thing!)

I've never driven one but followed one the other day for a while. Couldn't take my eyes off it.

It wouldn't bother me if it handled like a skip and couldn't pull the skin off a rice puddin' (which by all accounts it doesn't), I'd get just as much pleasure from creaming my nicks every time I looked at it, and watching it snarl at passing cats.
