Has anyone performed a turbo swap on a 91-> nissan 300zx twin-turbo? I'm looking at helping a mate do this and would appreciate any advice such as whether it can be done with the engine in or does it have to come out or any pointers to web sites detailing the precedure for doing the job.

Thanks,

Mark

I don't know much about the ZX, only the SX Nissan's I'm afraid, but you could try asking here:

or here:

I used to have one of those, great fun. I'm sure I remember reading or being told that swapping turbo's was an engine out job. Just remembering how crammed full the engine bay is would suggest to me it must be.

If you don't find what you need on the links below I've got various articles at home on buying/maintaining these things so will have a look later and see what I can find.

Are you doing any power upgrades while you're at it - would be rude not too really!

Good Luck.

Engine dosnt HAVE to come out.
But its not gonna be easy.
Garage i used to work at had one of these come in for the turbos to be changed, my hoppo did the job with the engine in situ.
Took him about 8 hours tho, still, quicker than engine out.
