OK, so apologies for my ignorance before i say this...
But are Supras & GTOs comparable - both 3 litre twin turbos, lots of torque, etc.
And if so which is best (I'm going to guess its the supra - but the reasons why would be good!)
Just that both are under consideration for my brothers "mid-life crisis" car which he has given me the task of drawing up a shortlist for...i want it to be something good so hopefully i can inherit it in a year or 2

My knowledge of the two is very limited but anyway....
I would go for the Supra, ideally one with a tasteful kit and some nice wheels IMO. The exterior design looks modern even today and I love the rear lights. Have to say though , I really dont like the dashboard on Supras. If he gets a Supra make sure its a manual cos the auto will take half the fun out of it.
GTOs look nice too but from reviews I've read about them I gather that they are loaded with all sorts of technology which may have scary maintanance costs.

Personaly, I prefer the look of the GTO Mk1 (when both are standard) BUT the Supra is much easier to modify.
The only thing I dont like about either of them is they need serious diets.
The supra is also RWD which is better to.
My GTO will finaly be going in April I hope, just needs one big service first !

forget them both. Just buy an RX-7 - look good and go round corners...
Its already off the list as he doesn't like the look of it & the rotary engine no matter how much i tried to 'sell' it to him - no accounting for taste! Good shout all the same tho!
It was Mark Mullen then! I do however remember you telling me about the Mr2 Turbo.
On another note, I left a GTO behind without even trying anything too extreme. I saw him shake his head and then smile and give me the thumbs up at the next set of traffic lights so I can only assume he was going for it..
My car does weigh 400kg less than the GTO though.

Must have been a broken GTO or a N/A - don't know anyone with a GTO ever say they've had trouble with an S2.
In standard form they are very similiar spec. I have an MTM chip therefore making the car a 'tad' nippier.
A mate of mine has just sold his S2 and bought a supra TT. He is adamant that a standard supra TT against a chipped S2 would not catch up until speeds went past 100 where the supra just keeps pulling like a train
