Hi Folks

I am wondering what the best Type-R modifications are, in particular thinking of air filters, exhausts, chips etc

I have an Accord Type-R and am keen to find out what i can do for a bit more poke !

Cheers

I thought the generally accepted answer was: not a lot, short of a turbo

Well you can superchip it for £300 and get 12 Hp extra then as an alternative you can fit a sports ait filter induction system for £160 that gives upto 14Hp.

I just wondered has anybody done either of these things and are they worthwhile ?

Cheers

Phone ABP motorsport (01270) 567177

They helped Magnex develop an exhaust for their CTR and some other manufacturer whose name escapes me to develop an induction kit. If it's been done, they probably did it first. It's where I'm going when I've got a spare couple of hundred

All the best

I've a Blitz Sonic filter which is very good. No massive increase in noise up to 6k then its a wee bit louder.

Ran 14.77 at York over the quarter the other week which should equate to 210 bhp so worth the money.

Rather that modify the engine, have you thought about uprating the brakes and suspension ?

Yes it seemed to take its time to get to about 6500rpm then balls out to 9500rpm in no time at all. what did you think about the track and how cold the track temp was, i couldnt get grip, and after doing some mods to my veihcle i was slower than last time, i was very miffed but some how managed to get a trophy somehow. P.S. so it was you at elvington several weeks before aswell then ??

The first thing to do is through the air box out.
This is very restrictive. I would recom something like a Injen system.
Next the Type r exhaust manifold is crap- but you will have to change the rest of the exhaust at the same time. It needs a 4-2-1 with longer primaries.

Haywood and Scott full exhaust system 675 fitted, BMC or BCA do an induction kit for 160 and an air filter, I am told that this should add 20 bhp, I my self and going to wait until the honda warrenty runs out before dabling, outherwise it could get costly. Go to Honda Forumn and speak with Pies_and_Chips, NickATRVtech and a few others....

I just bought a 57i induction kit from ABP motorsport (Nantwich).

They reckon it gave their CTR an extra 9bhp upto 6000rpm and 14 on VTEC

Don't know much about that but throttle response is now immediate and the sound is unbelievable. A sort of deep throaty roar upto 6000 and a cross between a race car and world war two fighter plane at full chat

Highly recommendable
