I've said all i am going to say in previous postings about this steaming turd Subaru dare to call an Impreza. I don't think i will be switching over to the EVO just yet as the old model is still a great proposition and even better now that i know where i stand with Subaru.

My next car will be either a new unregistered old model 2.5 or a bloody good used example. Faling that i hear the Litchfield Type25 calling if i have the dosh, but only in old model guise because i don't think they'll want to touch the new model, i hope.

Well, IMHO, it looks like the new car is not even a replacement for the old model, the small engines, generic design, I bet it’s got a great boot, lots of cubbies and coffee cup holders that cool your drinks, sigh. This is just a car to compete with the Ford Focus and Honda Civic, they will be chasing numbers now and the days of them designing different, fast, awesome cars is probably over. The design, although in my mind so mind numbing bland, will appeal to a larger consensus, school moms, old people just wanting to get to the post office, you know, bland bland bland.

I quite LIKE IT!!

although it just looks like any other Ford/Honda/GM/Citroen etc etc and is probably lesson 2 in the "Car Design for Dummies" book

It is not like the Impreza have ever been about cutting edge design. I think it looks good.

Werent there rumours of a new 2 door STi model? I'm sure I read an article in Autocar or some similar magazine.

Yes, I believe I read that somewhere too. In fact, now that i think of it I have seen some two door computer renders of it on the web, just nothing in the flesh. I also think the concept they had was a two door and a funky rear hatch type arrangement??? Still, I think the days are numbered for the turbo nutter specials, plus, with so many base models coming in to play, the high performance versions could be more expensive. Who knows, doesn't look good for the future though.

I can only see it as commercial suicide. It looks like an old Mazda 323; ok the old models were no stunners, but at least they had character about them, not this horrid bland box. Mitsubishi must be laughing their arses off

Good to see people have looked at the market research data that Subaru have used to decide on the redesign.

I agree the front end looks like the old Mazda 323.
Isn't it strange that at the same time Subaru turn the impreza into a soft looking euro-hatch the JDM Civic Type R has turned into a hardcore 4 door saloon that looks like a BTCC/WTCC escapee.
I'd rather have the JDM CTR anyday, maybe cause that's cause i have a soft spot for a high revving N/A engine.
It say the new impreza has equal length headers, does that mean an end to the burble?

Have to say, it's growing on me. As for the Evo X, do remember how utterly dull the standard Lancer looks (a blander Volvo S40 IMO). This render from Road & Track might give more of a clue, apparently based on insider knowledge:

If i remember correctly they got rid of the unequal headers and they lose the burble. I'm sure Subaru have given up agaisnt the EVO, change can be good but this is selling out as far as i'm concerned ditching the fan base to appeal to the masses who i think will just look at and shrug and go for the usual Astra or Golf.

If only, I wouldn't hold my breath, if I werem you. It's over.

Dear Subaru - you've just completely nosedived out of my interest, let alone affection.

If you go to the wall it will at work, a shame.

Subaru, who? Is that like Isuzu? No? Never heard of them.
