RE: New Impreza goes on sale in Japan
Discussion
I've said all i am going to say in previous postings about this steaming turd Subaru dare to call an Impreza. I don't think i will be switching over to the EVO just yet as the old model is still a great proposition and even better now that i know where i stand with Subaru.
My next car will be either a new unregistered old model 2.5 or a bloody good used example. Faling that i hear the Litchfield Type25 calling if i have the dosh, but only in old model guise because i don't think they'll want to touch the new model, i hope.

Well, IMHO, it looks like the new car is not even a replacement for the old model, the small engines, generic design, I bet it’s got a great boot, lots of cubbies and coffee cup holders that cool your drinks, sigh. This is just a car to compete with the Ford Focus and Honda Civic, they will be chasing numbers now and the days of them designing different, fast, awesome cars is probably over. The design, although in my mind so mind numbing bland, will appeal to a larger consensus, school moms, old people just wanting to get to the post office, you know, bland bland bland.

Werent there rumours of a new 2 door STi model? I'm sure I read an article in Autocar or some similar magazine.Edited by MarfGTxx on Thursday 7th June 19:39

I agree the front end looks like the old Mazda 323.
Isn't it strange that at the same time Subaru turn the impreza into a soft looking euro-hatch the JDM Civic Type R has turned into a hardcore 4 door saloon that looks like a BTCC/WTCC escapee.
I'd rather have the JDM CTR anyday, maybe cause that's cause i have a soft spot for a high revving N/A engine.
It say the new impreza has equal length headers, does that mean an end to the burble?

If i remember correctly they got rid of the unequal headers and they lose the burble. I'm sure Subaru have given up agaisnt the EVO, change can be good but this is selling out as far as i'm concerned ditching the fan base to appeal to the masses who i think will just look at and shrug and go for the usual Astra or Golf. Have to say, it's growing on me. As for the Evo X, do remember how utterly dull the standard Lancer looks (a blander Volvo S40 IMO). This render from Road & Track might give more of a clue, apparently based on insider knowledge:
If only, I wouldn't hold my breath, if I werem you. It's over.Dear Subaru - you've just completely nosedived out of my interest, let alone affection.
If you go to the wall it will at work, a shame.
Subaru, who? Is that like Isuzu? No? Never heard of them.
