RE: 2004 S2000
Discussion
The S2000's original handling was fantastic, but was clearly beyond the competence of many drivers. The 04 should be safer for them.
The gentle low down characteristix make the car docile in traffic and in slippery conditions. The car has much more torque than a B16A. It is simply wonderfully vicious over 6,000 rpm.

strange.
I had heard that along with the new higher torque engine there would be some styling mods.
Shame the engien bit didnt happen. It appears to be the only downfall.
I'm really glad we don't get the engine mods, I like the fact that it has a 9,000rpm rev-limit, the new engine has a lower limit with only a slight increase in torque (albeit lower down in the range). To me that would soften the car and it would lose some of it's lunatic character, becoming more like a quick MX-5. AFAIK it was done for the US market as they seem to be obssessed with engine capacity.
I'm undecided on the styling changes, I test-drove an '03 model and was getting ready to buy one when they anounced an update. Not sure about the alloys or the new front bumper, I will have to see one in the flesh before commiting, but on the plus side they've introduced some new colours:

I like the Moon Rock colour but I have a feeling everyone will get it.

On the plus side Neil, I bet there are a few deals out there at the moment on an 03 model - and you may get it in less than the several millenia that it took mine to arrive!
You would think so, but apparently there are only a handfull of new 03 S2000s left in the country (all Silver/ black leather ), I really like this new Moon Rock colour though:
