Anybody changed one?

Looks like I will be next week (oily water being forced out of rad), just wondered if anyone had been there before and knew of anything to look out for.

Any suggestions for parts suppliers would help also, will be swapping cam belt at the same time.

Job done.

Parts sourced through a friend in the trade, full head gasket set + cam belt cost me £96.

Head gasket change is straightforward, no special tools required. Took me a long time due to my arthritis causing day-long rest breaks!

Cam belt change. I could do it on my own in about an hour, could hardly be much simpler.

Turned engine over for a few seconds with ignition disconnected to pump oil around before trying to start it. Connected ignition, reached in through window, turned key and engine burst into life!!!!!!
Never had an engine start so easily after a rebuild.

Now running sweetly but I still have that slightly nervous feeling that goes with rebuilds.

Now I need a rest................

I know that feeling well. I've been totaly paranoid about every little noise after replacing the headgasket and clutch and various other little bits on my MR2. No problems in the last month though so fingers crossed!
