Nissan 350Z or Honda S2000 ??

Good write-up CarZee - glad to see you're taking the spending of the thick end of £27k seriously
If you do go the S2K route I'm sure you won't regret it. Insurance can be a tad pricey but it's amazing the variety of prices people on the S2Ki website have paid. Worth a look at the insurance forum here:

Yeah - I checked that out - it looks like Admiral might just have outlived their usefulness for me. They have come in higher than almost any of those on the spreadsheet, at £1500 with 5 years no claims and 3points.
How much!!!
I had a quote of £950 ish from Elephant and I've only got 2 yrs NCB (ex co car driver), no points (yet), although I am the ancient age of 35 now
Chris
I've just had salesguy on the phone - they've found a way to cut a considerable amount from the finance cost and throw in some bespoke options
It covers the insurance difference quite nicely as it happens
It'll better still if I can get my insurance costs down come renewal time.
Has anyone found a tracker or trackstar to be cost effective in that department? Probably not, as I expect the biggest weighting on S2K insurance is how many of them have been binned. ie Quite a lot.

Don't know whether it's the same with all insurance companies but when I asked mine (Norwich Union Direct) what the saving would be if I had one fitted they said it would reduce my premium by.... wait for it.... £20 per year!! Figured that it was better to take my chances and not spend the £400-£600 on a Trakker.
I use Admiral for my insurance comes in at just under £600 full NCB..kept on driveway no points
As for the S2000...well it initially complimented a Ferrari.....sadly I couldn't keep both after a financial reality check.....I kept the S2000 'cause other than 'that badge'....the S2000 was actually more exciting as a road car...the Ferrari was really only at home on a circuit whereas the S2000 is enjoyable in both environments
When do you take delivery?

when I test drove the car it was the engine that did it for me.....compared with the Ferrari Flat-twelve and the Straight Six from the M3....well it was like chalk and cheese
up to 6000rpms I thought it seemed Ok but not especially quick.......then all hell broke loose....
I think the engine must have quite a light flywheel as the revs get to 4,000/5,000 rpms in a blink of an eye......and fall just as quickly....very race car like
The steering while lacking in ultimate feel is very quick and makes it a very easy car to make 'dance' on a circuit.....you can correct most oversteer moments with maybe half lock at most...often a quarter will do
It fun with a capital F!!
The digital dash is actually very functional....you don't need to take your eyes off the road in order to determine how many revs you are pulling...certainly comes into it's own on the circuit

Oh yes - the deal was eminently acceptable.
That Nissan dealers are forbidden from doing deals on the Z put the final nail in their coffin for me.
Forbidding???? think EU might have something to say about that!!!.... one thing doing it, its another thing telling customers that a manufacter is issueing instructions like that
