On a sub-light speed trip out yesterday and noticed a problem that had appeared a week or so ago, but which didnt seem related immediately.

The week before i had noticed what appeared to be a very heavy vibration, almost like a wheel coming off the car such was its magnitude.
I pulled over and checked the wheels/tyres/nuts and found nothing.
Went out in it again yesterday and recreated the problem at high speed.
Turns out that in 5th at around 95 when winding on the power, the boost level got high enough to leak past a clamp that wasnt as tight as it could have been.
The result was a surging kind of effect as the boost rises and then leaks out as the clamp releases it.

So, do yerself a favour, check those boost hoses for tightness.
Power delivery and levels are now fully restored.

I had an engine warning light flick on at the top end of 3rd gear about 6 months ago.

ECU immediately reverted to 'limp' mode and I felt a pain in my wallet.

Loose hose. 25p clip and 2 minutes, all was well again.

Phew.

Ran my boss in his new PPP WRX (265bhp) down the road a week or so back. Dead heat.

I think she's still boosting pretty well.
