Any RX-7 fans out there
Discussion
Love the things, remember sitting in one at the motor show NEC when they first came out. Blown away by the styling. Even now, I've got amongst all the usual desktop wallpapers (lambo, Ferrari etc) one of a RX7 Spirit. If I was in market for a 2 seater, I'd get one of these, no danger.

Did you just drive that thing through the fence ??
lol, yeah. Straight across the field, through the fence, a quick handbrake turn in the gravel, a couple of snaps and sped off again
Actually, I thought the same when I got back and saw the photos. It's strange how you only spot things like that later and not when you are taking the photo. I also saw the massive pylons in the background and a big bit of litter. My brother is a bit handy with photoshop so I emailed him the pics and 10 mins later the pylon and litter had vanished
oh yeah, and I don't even own a rx-7, it's actually a Kia Pride which he photoshopped
I've had a 3rd gen rx7 for over a year now and love it to bits.

I must admit, when I first bought one I didn't really realise exactly how quick and focussed they really are.
I think Mazda have been quite shrewd with the rx8 because the rx7 was a bit too focussed and that narrowed the market. Sales suffered because of misconcieved concerns over the rotary engine, high price and inevitable brand snobbery.
The rx8 easily matches the new V6 audi TT and 350Z in terms of performance but is a practical alternative too - thus widening the market appeal. It's an approach which seems to be working and could well lead to a more focussed new Rx7 style rotary powered car.
As to superchargers etc for the rx8, there are already a number of kits available in Japan (including turbos too).
Blitz Uk are working on a supercharger kit which should be available here soon. There are some details on their website.

Have been following this thread with interest as I'm considering both an RX-7 and Chimaera once I've sold my current wheels.
I haven't driven either yet but as a reasonably priced entry into performace cars they both seem to fit the bill. Anyone have an opinion? I'd be most grateful for any pointers.

Will you guys stop going on about RX7s!!!
I'm trying to be sensible by buying a Skyline next, and all this talk of RX7s has got me thinking about them again!!!
Err I have to say, buying a Skyline has got to rank as one of the least sensible / financially sound decisions I can think of!!
I'd been thinking about getting one (GTR) but after discovering the GTROC forum, I've been completley put off them. Practically every other thread is a horror story of blow-ups, engine rebuilds etc.
Granted, if you leave it standard, it'll probably be ok but then are you intending on leaving it standard?
Doubt very much I'd spend money on a Skyline now.

A stock GTR is quick enough to leave most things on our roads.
Nah, I'd be inclined to disagree on that one mate. There are quite a few cars out there which will be more than a match for a standard GTR in the *real* world.
A stock GTR wouldn't embarass an MR2 Turbo, you should know that.
