Took my X5 in this morning for its "enhancement".....weight off my mind. Though it won't stop the fkers trying as most cars won't have the update so they'll still try any car they find I suspect.
Mine is going in next week - did the dealer tell you what they actually did?It was only supposed to be in during the day but they ended up needing it overnight...I suppose that's because they only have so many computers to do this job and any other of this ilk.

Just had the same message from AXA ,are all models affected i.e wasn't sure if my Z4 coupe would be as it was built in the US but so are some other models ??
No, you're not affected Izabar, you have a proper key. I got same email from Swiftcover (Switftcover are part of AXA I beleive) for my E89, so will have to make a call even though the fix for mine isn't available yet. No doubt if you've been warned by your insurance company about this fix, you fail to get it done, and your car gets nicked they're gonna want to reduce the payout I reckon. I reckon that ups the ante a bit and it should be a general recall of all cars affected.z4me said:

I would agree with that, whilst its good in terms of increasing pressure on BMW its not good for owners that have been/are about to be affected.More and more glad I got shot of my E60 as soon as I got it back from the theft in the spring.

The disklok is worth the money in my opinion as it also works as a visual deterrent.
Once you get the hang of it you will be able to put it on and off in seconds, mine lives in the boot when I am driving.
The only annoying thing is that it flies around the boot when I am braking and cornering. I haven't worked out a good way to tie it down yet.Once you get the hang of it you will be able to put it on and off in seconds, mine lives in the boot when I am driving.

I think you can get a bag/cover for it with velcro on the underside so that it won't slide on carpet, failing that, get a cargo net - I think most of the BMWs have hooks for them in the boot. LeoSayer said:

Mine sits snuggly laid down behind the passenger seat, which is fine when it's just me and the wife in the car (with the car 4 up things become tricky!). Thus far (5 months on) I've no marks on my steering wheel from my disklok, you have to take a bit of car putting it on and off though.LeoSayer said:

Leo,This is what you need.

I have one in the boot of my E92 M3. It had Velcro on its base and it sticks to the boot floor. The Velcro is very strong.

Yes your Z4 will be affected if its an E89, I phoned BMW and they confirmed as such, just waiting for the call from the dealership to book my wife's car inEdited by ashway on Wednesday 26th September 16:08

I just spoke to the BMW dealership we bought our M3 from and the first thing they said was that this is not a manufacturing fault and there is no vehicle recall - very well rehearsed.
I'd agree it isn't a manufacturing fault - it is a design fault, which is worse because instead of affecting a limited number of vehicles it affects every one them they made.ashway said:
