CD player got stuck and wouldn't eject, OBC said no CD's present. I did some googling and found that if you tap the side of the unit a couple of times and then press eject, it will work. Seems to unstick the loading mechanism for the CD.

Anyway, couldn't find anything on here so just for reference, it worked!

On a similar note, the nav CD in my drive wouldn't eject either, until I pushed the protective flap up manually. Also worth a try then wink

Great post, thanks!

I decided to go outside just now and have another go at the CD changer in my E46 3 series (2001 model year - maybe newer ones have a CD changer that isn't a massive flaky pile of crap). I bought my car last February, and the moment I got home I excitedly filled my swanky new 6 CD changer with my 6 favourite CDs. Then I went to try to play them, and straight away one of the trays got stuck. The buggers have been in there ever since... until now.

Fortified with a bit of dutch courage I decided that by "tap" you actually meant "hit with hammer".

Precise steps I followed:

1. Open boot.
2. Open CD changer flap.
3. Slide back CD changer door.
4. Hit CD changer with hammer.
5. Hit CD changer with hammer.

And out it popped. I now have my 6 favourite CDs back. Thanks for the tip smile

I thought I'd bump this thread for future google searchers, because my CD player has been working fine ever since. Looks like this was a transient problem, and I just got unlucky on my first day of ownership!

Perhaps I wouldn't recommend using the claw end in step 4, or hitting it particularly forcefully, like you were properly banging in a recalcitrant nail. That might be step 6, which luckily I didn't get to.

But if you just give it a knock, the sort of thing that it might experience going over a particularly nasty pothole, that might be enough to do the trick smile

Mine did excactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago (E39 btw). Everytime you opened and closed the slider, you could hear the mechanism trying to do something. Anyway, I gave mine a couple of slaps with my hand rather than using a hammer and not had the issue since.
