Pre-purchase inspection companies
Discussion
Due to my remote location I'm considering buying a car based on a third party inspection.
Does anyone know of a good marque specialist to use for inspection of older BMWs (at the vendor's premises)?
Car is in Herts area. it is a '92/'93 model.
TIA.

When I bought my 7 series it was 3 years old, out of warranty and I was advised not to use the BMW dealer as they tended to have a blinkerd approach, base a lot on the service history, were reluctent to be critical of other dealers and over critical of independents. I looked up a specialist in the area ( I was buying in lancs) and used him, they did a very detailed, very wide ranging inspection and I was happy with the result, the did the HPI in their fee and had a great buy.
are they okay with you getting it inspected?? i expect they should be as they seem to sell very good stock. never bought anything but hear good things....
the only localish guy i know is phil crouch in amersham.... if you call him drop my name into the conversation... im a customer and i teach his son cricket! if he cant do it he may know someone that can

Actually, it's one of their cars I'm looking at!
Old Colonel is just a one man band. Some nice stock but sometimes a little optimistically described (in my case, "immaculate and rust free" meant a couple of bumper scuffs and rust on two wheel arches). And they / he doesn't have in-house mechanics.
Definitely worth getting an inspection done if you can't view it personally.

Thanks. This car is also apparently 'rust free'.And they / he doesn't have in-house mechanics.

I get the impression he doesn't do any mechanical/prep. work on his cars but just sources low-mileage historied cars to sell on. I'll definitely need an inspection....
