F30 335D delivery dates slipping
Discussion
If you have ordered M Sport + package or M Brakes you will get a delay, I ordered my F31 8th August, was told delivery would be 20th September now w/c 17th November.
Problem is back log of orders with Brembo holding up production. My dealer said this is likely to come forward once the manufactures have finished their August holidays and production ramps up again. Could be crap but hopeful for an earlier delivery than that!

A few questions
1. If the delay is long enough could it actually be built as an LCI instead of pre in which case well worth the wait
2. Assuming you had agreed a part exchange what happens? You will be adding on loads more miles more wear on tyres brakes etc and it will be older potentially lapping another plate change - at what point does all this additional lost value require additional cash in the deal? Let's be silly say you added 30k additional miles onto it so what would have been a dealer sale car would then be way above what they trade and off to auction?
Or is it fixed regardless of additional miles you cover / an element of compensation to you for a late delivery v original timescale?

I'm waiting on a F30 330d M Sport which was ordered around 4th July and delivery quoted for 26th September.
I added the Sport Plus pack on 12th August.
Chased up the delivery date yesterday as I'd read about the delays with the brakes but have been assured I'm still on for w/c 22nd September so we shall see!

Yep.
I'm being given: there is not enough 335d engines which is causing the delay, since you could swap to 330d with m sport package (bakes, wheels etc) and bring the date forward.
Additionally The dealer has put on bring the order forward thingy - original order was beginning of June.

I asked that question and lci delivery would be at the earliest June/July next year - too late for me and I'm not sure about the 25% discount being carried forward.1. If the delay is long enough could it actually be built as an LCI instead of pre in which case well worth the wait

I asked that question too. Trade your car now and we will lend you a new car until the new one arrives nb I am a repeat customer which may of effected this answerAdditionally The dealer has put on bring the order forward thingy - original order was beginning of June.

Is there any significant change to the I6 F30's for LCI or just 3 bangers taking over the 328i?
Engine improvements (more power, better fuel consumption) as per 5 series now. Improved interior. Styling tweets and maybe led rear lights as per 4 series?See http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/scoop/bmw-3-seri...
...One key change is a new range of turbocharged three-cylinder diesel and petrol engines in place of today’s turbochargedfour-cylinder powerplants....
As well as the mild exterior revisions, BMW has made efforts to improve the interior of the 3-series with higher-grade materials and new multimedia features.

That's also my understanding; however, if you're not bothered about the upgraded brakes or the M-Sport Plus Pack the delivery times are actually quite short (6 weeks or thereabouts for a factory order). On a slight tangent, I had an e-mail from Drive The Deal today suggesting that the large discounts on new BMW's are starting to become more difficult to obtain; could just be a sales pitch but the suggestion was that you need to move quite quickly if you want to secure the 20%+ discounts that have been on offer on the 3-series recently.....JNW1 said:

Don't think these discounts are going anywhere especially as its quarter end at the end of Sept.

I agree it could just be a sales pitch given the relatively high levels of discount that have been available on BMW's for a while; however, I can't help but think that if these discounts of 20% plus become the norm that must eventually hurt residuals......I also had one in June... Already is - look at AUC F30 335d cars with 5 k miles and optioned to £50k are £33-35k. These were never £59k cars they were £40k cars that's the nub too pricy for a junior exec car. Welshbeef said:

Thing is if you're looking to finance the car via PCP those used ones still aren't especially attractive; the high level of discount combined with the lower rate finance can actually make the repayments on a new one less for a given level of deposit...dick_dastardly71 said:
335d Touring on order since late June. Early July I was told there were delays with 35d engines and given a Feb 15 delivery date, but this has since come forward and I'm told my car is being built next week.
Edited to add that the spec includes the M Sport Plus pack.
I spoke too soon. Dealer has just informed me my car has slipped to Feb 15 build, saying it's a delay with the M Sport Brakes option. So since placing the order in June my delivery dates have been September, then Feb 2015, then September again, then Feb 2015 again.Edited to add that the spec includes the M Sport Plus pack.

That happened me with the 535d M Sport back in 07. Ordered Jan 2007 (with me oblivious to the LCI upgrade coming), delays because of engine shortages at the time, and it ended up being built as an LCI car in May dick_dastardly71 said:

The dealer said to wait a little while for the german's to ramp up parts delivery post holidays. The times should come forward again - of course that could be bullste to just keep me on the hook!
I'm not really understanding the whole supply/demand/discount cycle - heavy (25%) discount means light demand? Therefore quick delivery. Originally bmw were giving me a July build date from early June.

Guess it comes down to how badly you want the upgraded brakes; if you're not that bothered you could always try speccing any other bits of the M-Sport Plus Pack you want separately and see what that does to the delivery time? Personally i've always found standard BMW brakes fine for normal road use and, good as the 335d is, it's hardly a track car; therefore, are the M-Sport brakes worth the wait?! JNW1 said:

I would say certainly yes. I tested the F30 330d M sport with the plus pack. I'd not spec one or buy one without it. Really felt confidence in the brakes strong and way better than the E90 I had (which I thought were great).
