535d remap advice - pre LCI model
Discussion
Hi guys, considering a 535d as a daily driver (80 mile commute), heard lots of good things but have not driven one yet. Would be a pre lci model with 100k plus miles..
Would you remap an older car with higher miles?
Can the gearbox handle it?
What kind of real world mpg to you see on a remapped 535d? im not that fussed but 350bhp must be juicy
Any major known faults with this model/engine? Are they that good? or is it a ph joke?
Thanks all,

I has my pre LCI done - more miles on it the better tbh. My MPG went UP after mapping from 31 to 33.Would you remap an older car with higher miles?

I owned a 535d 56 plate M Sport Touring and it was a good car.
I had it mapped and to be honest didn't notice any difference with MPG. I would highly recommend Simon from eMaps as he's very reasonably priced and know is onions (and BMW's). He has a very good reputation throughout the BMW world.
The gearbox will handle it but if your torque converter is already showing signs of wear, I would steer clear.
Known issues are probably torque converter, swirl flaps, EGR, DPF (not regenerating) and thermostats. Check to see what temps the stats are running as these will basically goose your DPF. You can access this through the OBC hidden menu, see here: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=...
If the car's been looked after this stuff will hopefully have been done.
I wouldn't worry about miles either as long as it's been serviced correctly.
Good luck.
