washer bottle filter
Discussion
Hi guys. The pressure on my e90 windscreen washers is really weak.I've heard this is more than likely to be the filter on the washer bottle and apparently quite a fiddly job as the inner covers etc have to come off.Is this the only way this can be fixed or is there a simpler method?

Unfortunately the only way to solve this is to remove the filters from the washer bottle as I found out when mine stopped working on the way home from collecting my car, annoyingly.
It's not a difficult job If you know which way round to hold a spanner, so I'd do it myself rather than pay a dealer.

Oh, and when researching it I did read about people putting all sorts of tablets and potions in to the bottle with mixed success. But once you've seen the filters on the tank and the congealed gunge that builds up, you'll realise the only way to solve it is to remove them and clean them.
It is fiddly, but easy if you work methodically and follow the guides that are online.
If you lived near me I'd do it for you.

If you (very carefully) add a splash of bleach to the water tank, draw it through the pipes a little if you can, then leave it for a couple of hours- this should solve the problem. Flush the system through when its fixed and wash down the car. Best done in a safe place.
Worked for me and haven't had a recurrence since.

Fair play if it's worked for you, but I wouldn't like to be spraying, admittedly diluted, bleach around near my cars paintwork.Worked for me and haven't had a recurrence since.
