What can we say about this camouflaged BMW saloon? Note the sensor array at the top of the windscreen, presumably for assisted or automated driving features.

These photos are from yesterday in the US, on I95 in New Jersey.

The one thing that springs to mind is that if it wasn't wrapped in that camo stuff no one would even bat an eyelid.

I guess it's some kind of 7 series L, the rear door looks to be quite long.

The sensors could be a load of cruise control, night vision or general outside view cameras, as autoparking is getting popular these days.

I would have thought all the stuff at the windscreen was just normal test mule measuring devices of sorts.

The wheel base is long, you could park a car between these two wheels.

Maybe it is to make the car look different to every other new, bland BMW?

Could be the new 5 series, that's only a year away...

I believe that this is the new 5 series. Large, yes. But the 7 will be even larger and more stately.

Whatever it is it doesn't look terribly exciting. BMW make good cars but they ain't half dull to look at, I can't remember the last time a BMW stirred my motoring loins.

Looks great until you realise it looks like it has a 911 jammed up its rear.

Fair one but only ever likely to appeal to a certain segment.
