Is anybody looking to sell their 545 or 550? I've been looking at E63 6 series but after viewing a 650i today I think I'd prefer the extra space of a 5 series!
The owner of this is on here.

What are the autoboxes like at that mileage? Also I guess the stem seals might be a worry. Good spec though and 300 quid road tax makes up for the slightly dull colour combo.
I dont know what the stem seals are..... but I just had my box's fluid changed and it feels a bit more lively now in sport mode. Mine is on 103k I think. Previously in sport mode it used to dawdle a bit at the top of the revs before changing and this annoyed me. Now it seems it to know when to change and gets on with it. I still get the occasional hunting at about 30 where it cant decide if it should change up or stay or change up or stay etc etc etc

Even if you needed a new box what would that cost?

If you want a V8 E61 I cant see you doing any better right now.

That hesitation isn't a good sign but I've lived with it for 2yrs or something now!

The way I look at it is that a refurb 'box is something like £1k exchange, so not a huge deal if you've had the car a while.

I'd sell mine but I'd probably want to sort those bits first, especially if it went to another PHer.

I suppose the way i would look at my old car - or any similar car for that matter - if you spend 4750 on a 50k car which has a better spec than most new cars and a 4.8 v8 to die for, you would have to spend upwards of 3k on it straight off the bat to feel in any way cheated. Any less and you're still smiling really...

The clutch packs in my 06 E61 550i gearbox failed at 143k, a recon cost £2300. I've spent as much repairing my car as I did buying it in the first place but I love it and, for me, its worth it.

In a few years you just wont be able to find these cars anymore.

Rubbish photos, annoying ad ("This car will soon be a collectors car and is increasing in value each year") but, yes, seems great value!

Would be scouring the history on that one as it feels a bit too much of a bargain!

Colour still not as nice as the blue one, the other week, which looks like it sold frown

Great value? Maybe if it was an LCI but that's a 2005 and getting a bit long in the tooth.

Looks pretty low to me!

Why does this keep winking at me in the classifieds?

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Yes, I know it's missing a proper boot but we hardly ever use ours (dog won't stay in it)...

It's e46 M3 money... But classier, no?

You don't need to mention the gearbox to me hehe

Anyway, it's fundamentally flawed being a saloon, I'm oot.

True but I've only ever heard of one of them on here. On no hang on there was the 08 reg SE too.

Seen that and quite like it.. only thing that puts me off is the active steering, that probably has some proper bork potential.

I think they all have that. Do you have a lowly 545. All the 550 have it I think.

All of them, both 545 and 550, have Servotronic, but the active steering was a (fortunately rare) option.

Mine had active steering but I was fked if I could tell, wasn't really noticeable. Certainly not a deal breaker for anyone.

Doesn't it just make it lighter at lower speeds?
