In the MOT history it was not MOT'ed for a couple of years. Prior to that it had a failure for excessive smoke from the engine. Maybe he bought an engine for 3 grand to fix the MOT failure.

Let’s be honest, in England an N62 isn’t a £3,000. Not a miley one either which probably has leaking valve stem seals and bore scoring. That would have been ideal fodder for going to continental Europe to donate its organs.
ALERTALERT
ALERT
I thought his was only a Porsche engine concern?
If you take a look at Sreten from M539 Restorations you’ll see his trials and tribulations with the N62 (in this case a 4.4). Lots of scoring. I think someone on here had issues, too.
As I understand it, the catalytic converters break up if too much oil burning happens, and these bits are sucked back into the cylinders through the scavenging effect these engines do (because they have no EGR).
It’s not a Porsche type thing, and many escape it. It just puts me off an N62 at the bottom of the market. Moreso the “free grand I no wot I got” types. That will drive their “V8 beast” at full chat whenever they can.

I had an issue with a score to the bore of cylinder 5 on mine and ended up with new block and pistons. They couldn’t say for certain how it happened, but they were thinking maybe caused by the tip of the spark plug coming off (not in my ownership so only guesswork). Symptoms were pretty much identical to knackered valve stem oil seal issue and therefore had mine replaced, but didn’t fix the problem.
Don't know if I've asked this before but any suggestions as to why my HUD works intermittently?
It seems to be OK most of the time but doesn't work when its hot weather.
On first start up even though I've tried covering the screen with a cloth there's nothing showing, on second or third start up it's back.
I'm assuming once the under-dash temp has dropped it frees itself.
Any suggestions as how I can cure it - lube? If so what and where?
I've seen the spring fix on YouTube but assume that's not the cause.
TIA.

I know it's a Japanese import but the price is laughable, more so with the gash alloys on it etc

Yes I've seen it. Its been around for a while I think. Although I think the wheels have only recently been added. So even though it is for sale I think he is still buying bits for it.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115460479086?hash=item1...

Yup; it was in my watch list a while back before I decided to get back to E39s and it was advertised for less...

Illegal No plates and window tints too. Looks like an old police car gone wrong. Sellers a dreamer unfortunately
Agree though; plate looks stupid
