Random question, when mine has sat for a week or two and I start it I get a bit of a puff of smoke out the back. I always forget to sniff it but it is more smoke than steam I think. Any thoughts? 138k miles...

If I had to guess I'd say valve stem seals. Possible to change them without taking the head off in most cases with the right tools.

hehe Yeah it has the yellow interior, but it's not modified?

Personally, I'd much rather have an interesting colour than something boring, but I get that it puts a lot of people off. Big time. vomit Anyway, I don't pay much attention to the paint or colour of the seats when driving it!

Sounds good OP - I like colours too! That is why mine is Imola Red (even if the seats are black)!

FWIW it had a service yesterday at 102K miles. I had the CDV removed, new gear-lever bushings fitted and a gear-box oil change.

I'd strongly recommend doing all of these to anybody - it drives like a new car now! Really, really pleased with it. cloud9

I love this colour combo! Bit different and out there, how the compact is meant to be!

Iv recently switched to AD08R track tyres but have a pair of NS2-R 225/45/17 with life left in them, only after £50 for the pair.

Has anyone replaced the tensioner pulley? The idler one looks like an easy unbolt out and in job but not sure about the 'moving' one attached to the hydraulic tensioner (which is a bit noisier on mine when spun).

I also assume there should be zero play in the water pump (with the belt removed) so I have ordered one of these too.

Cheers

Given my current 5 series is glacier green with grey interior it could be argued that im not as bothered as a lot of people by colourlaugh

There was a modified one with lowered suspension, brembo brakes a strut brace and a few other bits which would be ideal but I'm not brave enough to go for gold.

I really like the orange and ginger colours that are available but those are rather rare and predominantly early SE models rather than a later sport which is what I'm after.

I'd love an orange one with aero kit!

My compact passed its MOT today with flying colours. Advisories for low rear tyres as they'r'e at about 3mm but the Michelins have worn well for 31,000 miles. I'm still undecided as to whether I sell it or not, but the spec is as follows:

Topaz blue manual with 99,700 miles on it. Topaz blue half leather interior.

I serviced it and put a new valve cover gasket on it less than 1,000 miles ago too.

Nice spec with Xenons, premium audio, sunroof, and power folding mirrors.

There's some pics of it in the the thread, and I've got it in my Garage here too. If anyone would like any more info send me a PM. smile

I still can't decide if I want to sell it or not though... frown

I know that feeling so well!

The day after my service and CDV delete I got mine MOT'd. Only 4 advisories but it looks like I'll need new front discs, pads and flexi pipes for the next one. frown

So I spent a few days looking at possible replacements and could only really think of a 130i or possibly a 3 Series Touring. A decent 130i will cost me at least a few thousand more, and straight 6 manual petrol Tourings just don't seem to exist!

Might as well save my money for the work on my 325ti! laugh

I have a 328ci also, which I am using as a winter runner and have really bonded with it also. I dragged it out of a field where it had sat for 2 years and got it back on the road and it's been excellent since. My compact wants for nothing really, a pair of rear boots in a few thousand miles but otherwise it's a wonderful little thing. Served me well for almost 2 years and 40,000 miles now. Not to mention there's very few with an options like like the one on this, either.
