Is anyone using one of the myriad of eBay double din android units ? I'd like something new , but clueless to the tech and like the idea of DAB radio and perhaps even the digital TV options.
Thanks
Good thread here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...Thanks
My pal has a 330i Touring and went with a Pioneer (or Alpine, can't remember which) CarPlay head unit in the end and it's faultless; if you've the budget, I'd personally look at something like those rather than Chinese head units that are fairly unsupported
He had a unit very similar, if not the same to this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-Android-8-0-BMW-E46-M...
1st one didn't work at all, 2nd one died within a month and they didn't reply to any of his emails/messages thereafter. Ended up forcing a refund via PayPal & his credit card company.
IMO they're very unreliable; I researched them a lot, in order to fit one to my previous E39s, decided to go single DIN in the end with a trusted and faultless Kenwood unit, all singing/dancing hands-free/Bluetooth etc
I'll admit, there are a lot of folk out there that haven't had any issues, but there are a lot more that have!
Well just when I thought my problems had been sorted they return with a vegeance, i'm at a real loss with the car this time round, been faultless all weekend then I go to pull away from work, stop at the traffic lights 100yrds from the entrance & the car stalls, tried to start & wouldn't hardly turn over, tried again same, tried for a 3rd time then finally it started, drove home with no further issues, once I stopped I turned the car off & tried to start again & it wouldn't start, tried a few times & it started again drove round the block & it ran perfectly again, all instruments seem to work & car will idle fine unless I lower the windows or put the heating on etc then revs drop slightly but do recover, there seems to be a tapping noise in the engine bay also, altenator? Starter motor? Fuel pump? I'm at a loss.....

Get the codes read, could be something simple as the cam/crank sensorEdited by Dale79 on Monday 26th November 17:49

PHSS for bmw hq in farnborough entry list goes live tomorrow, if i can make the list i will be attending.
Shall we organise a pre meet and drive to the venue?
Tomorrow?! I had it on my calendar as Thursday!Shall we organise a pre meet and drive to the venue?
I will likely be in my E39 as the 325ti is on semi-slicks but would be good to see some others there.

My be early symptoms of a failing fuel pump (common E46 issue) may be worth getting them to scope the power supply for it , a failing pump wont crop up on a scan if its intermittent/erratic behavior wont always show up on a straight forward fuel pressure check either unless the fault is present at time of check
Good evening fellow 325ti likers. I thought I had better introduce myself as the new custodian (sort of) of gregs655's and the Foeux's car. My partner and I have acquired this little squirt as a general fun runaround for her that won't cost the earth in depreciation or running costs. I am a very keen car pervert and forum user but until now not a member here.
I have managed to read every single page of this ample thread and it tickled me to see the car pictured in the hands of previous owners. Here she is for both previous and future masters to gaze upon.

I have known the car from day one of ownership with Foeux who is a long-standing friend of mine. Perhaps I could even take the credit for planting the 325ti seed which led to his ownership and ultimately mine. After driving and being driven in it I realised that there just had to be a place in my stable for something with such a focused pure drivetrain so I made a sensible case for it to replace my other half's foul modern Peugeot which was accepted.
There are a few jobs on the list, replacing the wheels is the first. The car is now a country dweller and the MV2 18" are at war with my skeleton on our apparently shelled driveway. I would like to go to the style 97 17" set up. If you are interested in swapping MV2's with new/good tyres please talk to me.
It now sits comfortably among some other "modern classics" and I would like to thank the previous owners for taking such good care of it.

Welcome to the thread "thestoverfromdover".
Lovely looking Compact too!
Staggered Style 32 wheels were made in 18" format to fit the E46, and they are generally reckoned to be one of the lightest BMW 18" alloys - plus they look great!
And bonus points for reading the whole thread - it's been going for a while!

Thank you, it seems to be a tidy wee car. No rust found and clean as a whistle underneath too. I'm familiar with the style 32, a lovely wheel especially on an E38 but I am set on going down at least one inch in diameter for improved ride quality. It made a huge difference on the 8 series going to a 17". My old Mercedes rides on 15" steel wheels with 65 section rubber. I love the squish and with the state of the roads here I can actually hustle it down a back road with more aplomb and speed than something unyielding. Lovely looking Compact too!

Looks clean! Mine too is a bit of a country dweller.
More on that 8 series please?!
It is a phase two 840Ci with the 4.4 M62. I have had it for about 7 years. It has been a good reliable car actually. Most of what people say about the E31 is correct, it is a heavy, not particularly sporting and expensive to maintain goliath of a car but they don't half get under your skin. I will never sell it, it draws attention like something that costs 20 times as much. It has huge presence on the road and instils a great sense of occasion when driving. More on that 8 series please?!
Helix402 mercifully it doesn't have AHK. It does however have working EDC which like AHK is a nightmare to replace and/or repair.
